Since you can't swim in the reservoir, and there's no pool at this park, you might choose to stay at the lower campground. The lower camp has 41 sites, some right along the Kettle Creek just above the CCC dam which creates some good pooling for fishing right behind your campsite. It's also a good spot for relaxing (see picture). The above area has 27 campsites. Boating up to electric motorboats are allowed on the reservoir. The upper area has a boat launch and boat mooring area. There are picnic tables near the water and a play area. Further up SAR 4001 is a 22 mile equestrian trailhead with overnight camping with permit. Winter activities include ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, sledding and tobogganing. Very pretty area to visit, whether you're just driving through or this is your destination. We stopped here at the dam to check it out and found it to be interesting and pretty cool to check out. There were several benches and picnic tables around the area to use which was nice and cool historical information to read and learn about which we always enjoy.
