Called the office on multiple occasions only to be answered with rudeness and just utter disregard for the reason I’m calling. Public servants that forget their job is to SERVE.

I am previously a resident of Allentown where I held a concealed carry permit through Lehigh Valley Sheriff. This permit was valid for several years after I moved and relocated to Florida where I exercised its validity as a non-resident while maintaining a residential Florida permit. When I realized my permit from Pennsylvania was due to expire, I went into the Sheriff's Office in Gettysburg to renew it. I was told that because it originally was approved by Lehigh that I had to have it renewed by them. (This is NOT true as Pennsylvania state law dictates that non-residents with permits from their resident states may renew their permits in any sheriff's office) I called Lehigh several times to finally be answered by a detective who told me that the sheriff refused to renew permits to non-residents who didn't have property within the county. I told the detective this was not the law and I had a valid permit to be renewed in conjunction with my current permit. He agreed and laughed as if it was a joking matter and said the sheriff knew he was wrong but didn't care. I said "The law says I am entitled to the permit per accordance with the 2nd Amendment and Pennsylvania state law." He said "We know we're breaking the law, we just don't care." Public servants are exactly that, they are employed by the people for the people. They are paid with hard-earned tax dollars to serve the betterment of the public and uphold the Constitution of the United States and the laws of the jurisdiction in which the agency serves, in this case the great state of Pennsylvania. I have never been more disgusted with a law enforcement agency in my life while unironically literally trying to buy my rights back from the government and being totally within the statutes of the law and being denied what is owed to me inalienably. Lehigh Valley Sheriff should be absolutely ashamed of itself, its badge, its employees, its uniform, and its behavior. This is coming from from a prior law enforcement officer whose family has been upholding the Constitution since the 1850s. We fought for freedom in Chickamauga, Richmond, Belleau Wood, Normandy, Sicily, Vietnam, Iraq, and in numerous peacetime and law enforcement agencies CONUS to include the state police and several city agencies. What's more, my current permit is valid in Pennsylvania but I wanted to do the state the respect of maintaining a permit there regardless of that. The Sheriff's Office jokingly (and ridiculously) denied me that right regardless of the fact they are paid to uphold the rights of citizens. I am disappointed, disgusted, and appalled. Please train your deputies remedially to understand right from wrong, right from privilege, and good versus evil because as far as I can tell, those lines are muddled.

Very positive experience when I reported a minor issue with the website. The response was not only quick but also very professional and the responding officer went above and beyond what I would have expected. I am glad that such professional and conscientious officers are working in our government.
