This is a beautiful community with amazing views and amenities. The current team (Willowick) have done an outstanding job since taking over. Westlake Vistas has been through 3 management team/ownership since we've lived here. Before Willowick the pools were green, gates we always broken and there was alot of neglect even for the most common and basic of things like trash. Colby, Heather and the team have done so much to raise the spirits of the residents here. First thing they've done here was brought in professional pool maintenance, trash pickup, fixed garage gates and more. Resident concerns are addressed prompty and communication is great. They've been organizing community events, which never happened here before. You can tell they genuinely care about people and they are balancing renovations, new tenants, old tenants and building a community like a management team. It's not a team of sales people who get you in and forgot about you. I'm very happy with Westlake Vistas!

This places has crazy amounts of roaches, doesn’t fix any maintenance issues, and legitimately stole my security deposit. When the management swapped over neither management company said they had any record of me living there after the fact even though we had a year long lease. Several hundred dollars just stolen…

My lease was from Aug 2021-2022. About halfway through my lease, ownership of the property was transferred from Connor Group to Willowick, so I will try to exclude complaints I had about Connor Group. Reviews have a character limit, so I’ll say upfront it was an overall a positive experience, with a lot of micro-complaints. This place has a great view and an overall mature community, and Willowick seems to be making good steps to improving the issues Connor Group left. However, six months into the ownership transfer, there are some significant issues still left unaddressed. I take ownership of not always surfacing my complaints to management, so take these micro-complaints with a grain of salt. Move-in: This was an overall positive experience. There is a freight elevator and good spots to park a moving trucks. I was not given a gym FOB or a gate FOB until six months into my lease, despite paying $50 for one upfront. With Connor Group at least, the security deposit is based on a credit check, which was a bit odd, but led to my deposit only being $300. I’m not sure if this is still the case with Willowick. The Building: There are three buildings, two situated on a large hill which has a great view but is a bit dangerous to get to and from. The roads up the hill are tight and windy, and often have pedestrians on them due to that being the only way to leave the property or check your mail. Building 2 frequently had elevator breakdowns for weeks at a time, water shutoffs, and 3 AM fire alarm evacuations. My car was broken into multiple times during my year, and security in the garage was a frequent issue. Being in such a remote location did not protect the garage from theft. At no point was the gate code changed in my year there. Management did not seem to be very communicative with maintenance. At one point my mail lock was drilled out and changed, and I had to convince management that I needed a new mailkey. They didn’t believe me for some reason until I asked them to go to the back and check. The garage has more-or-less anywhere-parking. There is an option for reserved parking, but I never had an issue parking wherever I wanted, so I don’t think many people opted for reserved parking. The building advertises two dog parks. Both seem to be nicer than the average dog park, but didn’t do a great job picking up poop. The building also advertises dog trails, I’d say this is almost an outright lie, and there aren’t many places to walk your dog. There is a pool on the hill attached to building 3. I never visited this but it was often packed during holidays. The Unit: My unit was a two-bedroom on the third floor of building 3. The floor plan I was given advertised a much larger patio than what I was given. When I moved in, half the lightbulbs were burnt out and most of the drains were clogged with hair. The unit came with a washer and dryer. The interior was significantly more dated and used than the unit I was shown during signing. It has a very 90s aesthetic, with caramelized wood, dated marble countertops, & worn down carpets with an odor. One big plus was the 11 foot ceilings, which is definitely a unique trait not seen in a lot of apartments. My biggest complaint about the property was the thin walls and ceiling. I could hear every footstep and voice from the unit above me, and needed to complain to management a few times to fix this. They did offer to move me to an open unit which was welcome, but I wasn't in a position to move my entire apartment at the time. Internet is through Spectrum. 400 down, 25 up. For context, 25 up is very slow for 2022 standards and will affect activities like video calls and file uploads. The unit had a pretty bad pest/bug problem during my stay here, which was gross. This seems to be a complaint others in the reviews have. The Lease: This is a pretty expensive place to live. While the rent is typical, you will need to pay a $75 parking fee, a $99 cable/internet bill (you cannot opt out of cable), and a hefty trash fee.

Aug 2022 update: fridge water filter has not worked for 2 months and maintenance has come to look at it twice saying a part needs to be ordered. One sink has been broken for two months and waiting on new one to be ordered as well still. December 2021: Took 3 weeks to get clothes washer working as right when I moved in and tried it out it broke and was full of water. Cheap painting/painted over nails in wall. Vinyl floor is scratched and not waterproof in bathroom. On move in had band ant problem. Also two floors above had leak that went through multiple floors. Gym equipment is dirty and no wipes are restocked. Grills are very dirty, broken handles, need cleaning and upkeep. Common area sinks don’t work and are dirty. Extra fees for parking and trash valet increase rent total by $200 fyi. Maintenance request go unanswered and require calling front desk for follow up action. During freeze couldn’t leave due to road and bridge ice even though management said they had ice. Multiple fire alarm issues and water pipes freezing. Great views, dog friendly with two dog parks, 3 pools. Trail around building for short walks. Gym has nice range of machines but not well maintained or cleaned.
