Dr. Antunes and his staff are exceptional and go above and beyond to ensure patient satisfaction. Dr. Antunes is a perfectionist and truly loves what he does. I highly recommend him to anyone considering a rhinoplasty. I spent a lot of time researching surgeons and I am so happy I chose Dr. Antunes as my surgeon. He is simply the BEST!!

Dr. Antunes and his staff took great care of me from initial consultation all the way to after-surgery care. Dr. Antunes is well reviewed which is why I initially chose him. Now after the surgery is done and I'm recovering, it is safe to say he and his super-responsive/attentive staff have surpassed even my highest expectations. I had minimal bruising and can now breathe so much better! Plus he made me look like I once did years ago before my nose was broken. Love the work and the results! Highly highly recommend Dr. Antunes. Having someone who is double board certified with expertise as an ENT and reconstructive/cosmetic surgeon was the correct choice for me. A++

Words cannot express my gratitude for Dr. Antunes and his staff. He is truly an amazing doctor and master surgeon!! He performed two successful surgeries on me (a sinus procedure, as well as an upper/lower bleph) and I have been overjoyed with the results of both. If you are looking for an extremely talented and knowledge doctor—who is also very kind and listens to you—look no further. Dr. Antunes is the BEST!!

I am SO pleased with my experience at Face Austin so far. I am about 5 weeks out of surgery and I couldn't be happier with the results. I had a lower face lift and brow lift and it was much easier than I expected. I felt very supported and cared for by Dr. Antunes and his team. I HIGHLY recommend them.

Questions & Answers

I've heard about the Halo laser. What does it do?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

Halo is one of many laser skin resurfacing treatments that are available today. It is a hybrid laser, meaning it combines different laser wavelengths in one platform. When considering laser skin rejuvenation, our Halo patients from Austin and San Antonio should think about this issue: Do you want a more aggressive procedure that can produce results after a single treatment but requires some recovery time? Or do you prefer a gentler laser that has very little downtime but requires multiple treatment sessions?

How long will fillers like JUVÉDERM last?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

There isn't a single answer to this question because various fillers are formulated differently. Some fillers last for 6 to 9 months, while others have been clinically proven to last up to 2 years.

How long does it take for Botox to kick in?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

Generally, you should expect results to appear within 4 to 7 days after your treatment. Dysport, an injectable that's very similar to BOTOX, often produces results sooner than BOTOX, but the results may not last as long.

How long will my nose look swollen after rhinoplasty surgery?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

Noticeable swelling and bruising are a fact of life after rhinoplasty, but the side effects don't last too long. Even though some swelling can take up to 6 months to a year to completely resolve, noticeable swelling usually dissipates after a couple of weeks.

What is nonsurgical rhinoplasty?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

Rhinoplasty—commonly called a "nose job"—surgically changes the size and shape of a nose. The results are permanent. In recent years, plastic surgeons have started using injectable fillers to simulate those changes. The results can be quite impressive and can give patients a preview of what their noses may look like after surgical rhinoplasty. Because the body gradually absorbs the filler, though, a nonsurgical rhinoplasty requires maintenance treatments

Is the mini facelift a real thing or just a marketing gimmick?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

It's a good idea to be wary of plastic surgery procedures with names that appear to promise more than they deliver. But the mini facelift is an actual technique that can produce excellent results for the right patients. It's sometimes called a "skin-only" facelift because, unlike a full facelift, a mini facelift doesn't involve much lifting of the muscle. It's best for patients in their 40s and 50s.

Can I get the same results as a facelift but without surgery?

Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

You've probably heard of nonsurgical facelifts that promise the same results as surgery. Unfortunately, even though plenty of nonsurgical treatments can produce some amazing results, they still can't match the outcomes produced by a facelift. The main reason is that facelifts actually reposition tissue and muscle under the skin, something that can only be accomplished with surgery.

As soon as gynecomastia surgery comes out ??????

Edgardo Aguilar | Oct 31, 2020
Marcelo Antunes, MD, FACS | Oct 31, 2020

The cost of surgery to remove excess fat from the male breast—a condition called gynecomastia—varies depending on the extent of the procedure needed. The best thing to do is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.
