Phoenix Lobitz
This place is oozing with loving, positive, supportive energy as soon as you walk in your greeted by the wholesome ladies at the desk. I trust this place since I can remember
c mon man
Mainly dogs but some cats as well. Just wish they smaller dogs. However there are lots of dogs to chose from. Love they are a true no kill shelter.
Dena Carothers
Awesome place to adopt pets. They also used to offer discount veterinarian services to seniors, veterans & the disabled. You can also volunteer your services if you would like & love your pets like I do🙏❤️

You need to contact the shelter to see if there is room for them first
No it is not a no kill shelter. I worked there as a surgical technician and saw many bad things. Including euthanasia due to “aggression.” I asked the director Jannette Darling why that is and she said I quote “an animal in a cage that is aggressive is taking up cage room for a non aggressive animal.” Scam artists they are to win your pitty. Whor’s to make the decision who lives or dies? Obviously them. But heyyyyyy it’s for the good of the community.
They always need them also food newspapers and cat litter
Yes bless those kitties
They have a gated dog park you can bring any of there dogs in to pet, play, and get to know them!:)
They do not offer dental work
The adoption fee for puppies under the age of 6 months is $150. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, and microchip!
We have birds we can take them in.
Yes, well that's what they told my son.
Definitely during the week in the morning when it's cooler so the animals aren't all hot and tired. I recommend asking them to find the best dog for you. They know all the personalities which are so much more important than how cute they are. Let's be honest...they are ALL cute!!!
Yes you can. They will look for a chip and then go from there...
60 to 100$
Hi mike i saw a cat you posted its black and white with green eyes she has the pink colar on and her right ear is chipped hi i was wondering was the cat fixed when they found her was her ear already chipped
No kill means unless the animal is tested "aggresive" or is very sick, healthy animals ARE NOT euthanized.
They have a low cost clinic with varying prices but i would call to get more information.
Ask the lady/s at the front desk. Hope this helps. 👍
yes you can get there but I don't know if it really has people who speak Spanish
I have adopted a three year old dog from them and the med check was pretty thorough, including detecting heartworm and treating it. I can't say about older dogs.
Just need some answers on why the dog is throwing up not drinking water diarrhea not eating it is a terrible situation
you need an appointment to have your animal seen by veterinarian staff. try to make one & you’ll be helped
If you go to the Animal Defense League website there is a link titled INTAKE PROCEDURE. You will find very helpful information regarding your situation and also contact information. There is a fee of about $50 which I'm sure it helps offset the cost of caring for the pup in the long run. I believe right now they are more readily available to take in dogs but I've seen them offer other helpful solutions when they can't. I currently foster with them so I can only speak to the level of care the pup will receive. This group has always been wonderful with animals I've had under my care. Your pup will be very well cared for and her best interest will always be kept in mind should she be taken in by them.
HEB donates almost all of ADL's food. They use the HEB heritage ranch dog and cat food.
You should be able to, but yes, you need to make an intake appointment.
Hi Linda, kitten adoption fees are $100. You can always stay up to date with our adoption specials on our website adltexas.org or on our social media pages.
Yes. They only charge $50 for intake. You also have to call and make an intake appointment.
Hi Manuel, to better assist our community and increase access to our life-saving programs, ADL reduced its intake fee to a flat $50.00 per intake appointment. We are working hard at creating new programs that are accessible to all, follow gold standard care, and focus on the health and care of each and every pet that we serve.
They put you on a 2 week waiting list. Best to call 311 and ask ACS to pick up.
Hi Lu, we are currently accepting strays from the public by appointment as well as transferring pets in from ACS.
With covid the clinic is suspended currently
OR CALL ANIMAL DEFENSE LEAGUE! NO KILL SHELTER
Hi Kelli, we currently administer Sentinel as prevention for our dogs and Revolution for our cats.
Hi, the only Roxy that we have available for adoption is this one: https://adltexas.org/pets/roxy/ Is this the pet you are referring to?
I really don't know sorry
There is a mix of animal breeds, ages, and sizes available for adoption at any given time. You can also look on the website to browse available animals prior to visiting.
Banfield is a vet clinic inside PetCo, like Lois B indicated, I would call around
Yes
Yes
Yes but they are going to tell you are you for sure going to adopt not look!
Cat cost $30 kittens $100 was that your question?
I adopted two kittens siblings here just a week ago. Easy adoption process and staff was able to answer any questions I had.
Walmart.com or look on Craig's list or Facebook Market place.
You could call the front desk. They would tell if they have any on the premises available for adoption today. Typically exotic animals are rotated quickly.
No but check out https://secondchancecavy.com/ It is the Guinea pig rescue here in San Antonio.
They don't do that directly. Perhaps animal control sadly. Can you take it to a vet to check if it has a chip?
You can call the facility and get info about drop off.
No
Why free? They have expenses to keep up the facility.
There are many wonderful dogs of all sizes, looking for the right home: small to large. 😀 There are different buildings that are best suited for different sized dogs. The first building you see after checking in holds the smaller dogs, who are mostly fully grown from my experience volunteering. When you find one you like, ask someone with the ADL T-shirt to let you visit. It's amazing how a few minutes of loving attention bring out the best in them.
I got my 16 yr old dachshund there! He's precious! Senior for seniors program
Try posting on the neighbors app or nextdoor app. What kind of puppy?
Call them and ask them.
Animal Defense League off of Nacogdoches
I'm not sure. Call them and find out.
No they only have dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens.
They only take cats and dogs.
You can deliver the dog to Animal Defense League and they would accept it to protect it and get it adopted.
You should call up to see if they have room first, and then bring the dog.
ADL might be interested in the data.
Mno more you pay very little. More little in the Aninal Control Services (Acs) on Hwy 151.) They have portraits on the website.
They are a no kill, save shelter so the puppies they do carry are all different breeds, some pure breeds and all ages. The only way to know is to go there and see, honestly so many come in and go that the Webb site doesn't do it justice in what amazing animals are waiting for homes. 😊
Yes, spay it
Dude, don't be lazy just go and check it out.
The pics I showed were at the Animal Control ctr on Hwy 151 near Callaghan Rd. Thise dogs were much calmer than the Animal Defence league on Nacodoches Rd--these dogs seemed very agressive.
It is not uncommon for cats/dogs to get a lump at a spay incision. It is called a seroma and is just inflammation of tissue, often due to the animal being overly active following surgery. (It is super hard to keep some animals, especially cats to restricted activity.) But if you swing by during hospital business hours between 9:30 to 5, they can have one of the vets check it out for you.
Look in Nextdoor.com. It’s free to join. Sign up when you see your neighborhood name. Check to see if someone posted that cats picture as lost. If not you can post for free to let the neighbors know a cat is in need of help at that location. Take a picture it helps speed things up. Good luck.
Yes, all of the cats are scanned for chips at the time of surgery (both owned and feral) If the feral animal has a chip, the owners are contacted to come reclaim their cat.
Appointments are needed. Surrender fees: K9 Surrender Fee’s: Weight 0-25 lbs = $30 26-50 lbs = $50 51-100 lbs = $75 100+ lbs = $100 Heartworm Positive = $100 additional Medical/Other = $50 additional Feline Surrender Fee’s: Kitten = $30 Adult Cat = $20 Medical/Other = $50 additional
Please consider setting up an appointment to have your kitty spayed to prevent future litters. They spay/neuter public cats on Wednesdays and Fridays each week at the ADL hospital. There are certain zip codes in the city that are covered under a grant for free surgery. Call or check out their website to see if you qualify for a free surgery.
Most details are available on their website, https://adltexas.org. Most of the time, the volunteers are assisting with the adoption process in office or gathering supplies outside. Keep trying.
Service animals have to be trained to work with their owner they are pretty expensive, due to that training.
I suggest calling
You would need to call, they only do intake if they have room.
Yes, ADL as a fabulous foster department
You can also check with ACS. if you're in Bexar County. I don't know there intake hours. I hope you can find a. good home for those little ones.
No
Dialing 311 is a City resource
I would take to my Veterinarian If it were my little dog. Good luck to you and your little dog. I will keep you two in my thoughts and prayers.
The ADL is the best option to keep the puppy safe.
Mon-Fri 9-5, Sat 10-2, hospital hours. On Iota Dr (side street from main entrance to ADL). Normally they're good at taking kittens that young but if full they will probably make an appointment in near future for you to bring them in. Check other no-kill shelters if they're full. In the meantime, make sure bottle feeding every 3 hours. It's best to feed them on their bellies, not on their backs. Go to PetsMart or local pet store and ask for assistance on what do, if you need to
You must go there and apply for adoption and then be approved to find out.
Wellness clinic is from 10:30 to 12 on Saturdays only. No appointment needed; walk-in basis. I recommend checking their facebook page the day before to make sure there are no wellness cancellations.
They have all kinds of animals. They do not have any specific breeds. Most with be mixed breeds.
Dave Bruinekool in above post is looking to surrender two.
Thank you. We can always use volunteers. We are open from 11 to 7 every day. Except a few Holliday s. Just go on line and fill out an application
They may rush the process due to the severity of the case
You would have to call or go there when it opens to see if they have room for them.
Call animal care services, try pet shotz too. Pet smart may know something too.
Yes u can volunteer agaes 10 to 15 with a grounup. 16 on you're own
Yes, public cat surgeries are done on Wednesdays and Fridays.
I've seen some kids around there that help feed the cats and things like that. I believe they may need to have a parent with them.
Call then they will work with u
Nope nope nope. I volunteer here and walk meaty pits often
Yes
I have found that the location by the zoo has more small dogs. You could try regularly calling each location and asking about daschunds.
You have to call them and ask for the intake department. Theyll give you a date and time you can drop them off.
Yes
They have many breeds the one my Brother found was a Loving Carrien Terrier. Like Toto.
