This place was gorgeous! I got caught in the rain Half way through the trail and I really enjoyed it! Greg at the visitor center was so nice he helped me pick out a trail, and made sure I didn’t get lost! I had a really good experience! Edit/ I did two trails here this week, one about 3 miles and the second about six miles 💖 this park was so beautiful! I even saw a deer so so close to me!

I love living this close to a great State Park. Great walking trails, clean facilities, and fun places to explore make this SUPER convenient State Park a must visit. Acres land sandwiched between Raleigh & Cary make access to the park easy. Bike, hike, fish, paddle board or kayak all around this gem in the 💚 of the city. PLEASE NOTE: Overnight camping requires a reservation so go the parks website to schedule. Not all campsiteSs have drive up options, meaning you have to park then walk to site. Check availability when scheduling your camping trip.

It's spring time friendly for southerners. I spent my time hiking, and stayed at the youth tent site. It's extremely private if you're the only one there. Direct access to the town of Raleigh, yet far enough away to be able to see the stars and listen to the forest without light or noise pollution. Will be back with kids.

I recently got a camera and chose this park to get some nature shots in. I barely made it through the first half of the park because I found so much to look at in one area. Great park to get inspired if you have an eye for photography. Plan to visit more often when I need to get the creative juices flowing. Edited some of the shots I took, so they aren’t actual colors lol but they’re from my perspective. Enjoy the trails

NO
Keep driving down the main road of the park till you see the opening in the trees. It is NOT the tiny building next to the 5 parking spaces close to the entrance gate.
There are showers at the camp sites...is that your question? Free for campers.
