Tried this restaurant for the first time last night - wasn’t feeling well so decided to do take out. Ordered (2) shrimp and grits plates - one with mixed veggies and one with a side salad. I asked that they add cheese to both plates of grits which the young lady assured me would not be a problem. And then an order of fried pickles. The young lady working the front counter told me it would be ready in 15 minutes and I went out to my car to wait. Came back 15 minutes later and she was busy with another guest, so another young lady offered to assist me. I was pleasantly surprised that my food was ready, so she bagged it up and I wad out the door a few minutes later. Tried the fried pickle and they were great. Opening the other 2 boxes was disappointing. I wish I hadn’t felt so bad or I might have paid better attention when she opened the boxes before bagging things up. First plate was a full plate of grits and shrimp, a couple hush puppies, but no salad. The second plate was a few grilled shrimp, a couple hush puppies, some mixed veggies, but NO grits. Ate the shrimp alone but they were a little too salty. My husband didn’t enjoy the grits. Just a little disappointed that my order wasnt correct.

My family celebrated my 70th Birthday Dinner a day early on Sat. 12 Mar (20+ people) at Shells on Russel and the food was excellent as always but the service we received was AMAZING! “Mary S.” was on our receipt and she was phenomenal keeping up with our needy/drankin family ! I had the low country boil with crab legs and the crab cakes (fried). The next day everyone was talking about how good their food was. I realize that either bad service or food quality may cause a person to give less than 5 stars but both were excellent for our night out. Highly recommend! Oh, and a shoutout to the unknown patron who peeled off a $10 bill from his roll and gave it to me for my birthday! I tried to respectfully decline but he insisted. I definitely plan tp “pay it forward” in the future. Thank you! To add to this post: I was at a casino restaurant in Biloxi, MS. and I found out our waiter would not be working the following day because of it being his birthday. I was able to “pay it forward” and gave him the $10. He was so appreciative and another thanks goes to the gentleman I met at Shell’s!
