I have been to the book and the bee at least 5 times prior to this visit. I have always enjoyed it. I was greatly disappointed today. I ordered the salad and asked for a croissant. The salad was 9.95. I would say that it was not a lunch size portion, more like a side salad and the croissant was like one from the supermarket.The balsamic dressing was more like straight balsamic vinegar. When the waitress came by to check on us I was already finished. I told her the salad was quite small and I asked for a cup of soup, the roasted red pepper. It was good and a normal size serving. My bill, with a Diet Coke was $25. The service was prompt and friendly, I gave her a 15% tip so my total bill was $28.75. That seems pretty ridiculous for a cup of soup and a side salad, a store bought croissant and a Diet Coke. What was really sad was that I brought a friend and I had told her how wonderful the book and the bee was. I don’t know if I will go back.
