Our family loved our dinner at Waterwheel! All three courses were incredible, and it was absolutely fabulous to try the local Troddenvale cider. Highlights included the trout cristinis and duck confit. We all ordered different appetizers and entrees, though, and no one was disappointed. This place is a MUST EAT in Bath County. John, the innkeeper, was gracious and welcoming. We learned all about the area from him, because in addition to being a skilled restaurateur, he is also an engaged member of the community. We will certainly be returning for more cherished family dinners! A place to make memories.

Excellent service and quality menu. Setting is great mix of historic and modern touches. Check out the wine basement.

In town staying at the local resort. Found the Waterwheel on Google and then was recommended by some folks we met at the resort. We loved the meal!! We had appetizers, salad, and entrees for our group. I was blown away to find such great food in such a rural area!!!n

My family and I had dinner at this exceptional restaurant. It was a great find. The restaurant is in the old mill and it keeps some of its features. The space is cozy and nicely decorated. The general ambience is inviting and private. The servers are very kind and professional. They explained some of the dishes and made suggestions. All the dishes were delicious. They don’t have a kids menu but accommodate to kids portions and my children really liked their food. My salmon was cooked perfectly and very nicely presented. The beef stroganoff was also delicious. And the desserts are also very good- we had the maple cake (I think that was how it was called) and the flourless chocolate cake. I would recommend walking around the patio if it is not too late. All in all I would highly recommend it.

We following the VDH guidelines for restaurants. Guests are asked required to wear masks when not seated at their tables. Guest are seated 6ft apart from others not at thier table. We are seating at half capacity and on busy evenings spreading guests out even further by using our second floor dining area. There are no seats at the bar and only one small table for 2 in the bar area. No communal tables available. And no parties larger than 10 on the second floor and 6/8 on the first floor.
5pm-9pm. Reservations are recommended. Thank you.
We didn't ask to eat outside but we did have soft drink on the veranda the evening before we ate dinner there. They had lounge chairs and low tables on the porch and the ambiance was nice.
