The building itself is beautiful. Sadly there is zero food or even coffee in the building or nearby! Signage is not good so give yourself time to find your way. Needs more security especially at night.

I have waited for trains to Chicago many times and return here from Chicago. Union Depot currently only has one train daily, Empire builder each way to and from Seattle/Portland. There are a lot of buses. The idea that they have no food or even more than a few crummy vending machines by the public washroom (often closed when people are waiting for Amtrak) is a lost opportunity and makes a bad impression of the Twin Cities - there is nothing close by either.

The parking lots are a joke, don’t bother with a contract with them. The poles in the covered lot make it impossible to park anywhere, the other lots are so far away from everything else, you might as well just park on the street. Oh and don’t even THINK if you have a contract there that you get priority spots—NOPE! Any game, market, event going on, you’re fighting with everyone else for a parking spot. SO GLAD I’m moving far away from this joke of a place.

I would say arrive 30 minutes early. You could make it from the front door to the boarding gate within 15 minutes but the line forma 15 minutes before at the gate. Also check train status before arriving because its often late and therea nothing open at that hour in the depot with regards to food or beverages so you will literally wait around in this instance. Today for instance our 8am train is arriving at 12:20. Happy travels!
