I would recommend one of the naked 600 series bikes like a z650 or a sv600. Both are very capable having fun on but remain comfortable for ride position
Most cycle shops are over priced for a reason. They want to make as much of a profit as they can, but are more than willing to come down and will go as far as total bottom dollar. I bought a m109 listed at 8,000 and got it for 4,000 and only had 9,000 miles on it plus accessories.
They will service all types of motor bikes.
