Best tasting water on the AT. This shelter is aways clean!

Good steep hike to hit the ridge. This shelter was easy to find, right on the blue trail at the N/S sign. It was well maintained, clean, and even had a picnic bench and a fire pit. Well done A/T trail folks. Wear study shoes and bring some water - great place to visit.

Busy shelter on the AT because of its proximity to state highways near the NY/NJ border. Went in the late summer and there was hardly any firewood. Nice area for food storage in a bear box though and plenty of tent sites if it’s busy.

nice shelter - heads up as of sep 28th 2019 - water sources in the area are dry as a bone.

Yes, there is a stream at Widcat and parking 45 minute hike. And I'm Atheist. Cheers
The trailhead on lakes rd has free parking. That trail does lead to the wildcat shelter. But its about a 2mi hike in til the shelter.
