Not only is this a beautiful facility, the caregivers are top notch. The leadership team (Vicky, Brooke, Stephanie and Tomeka, to name a few …) are dedicated to making The Rutherford an excellent choice when you are needing a higher level of care for you or your loved ones!

When my mom first moved to the Rutherford, it seemed like a great place. She was there for a total of 3 1/2 years, and it just got progressively worse. I know it is hard to find people that want to work nowadays, but the turn-over in this place is UNREAL!! I've seen many other comments about the food, and that was one of mom's biggest complaints. It was awful. She recently had to have a carcinoma removed from her back and it was a fight to get them to change the bandages on that. The last straw for me was when we had been told they checked on the residents every few hours during the night. What a joke!! Mom fell in the middle of the night one night. Somehow she managed to get back in bed, but she had hit her head, was bleeding badly and broke her wrist. Since she hit her head, it didn't register for her to hit the call button. We don't know if she laid there for an hour or 8 hours. The worst part is no one even noticed she was missing at breakfast until Tomeka came in. She asked where mom was, and the staff just said she didn't come to breakfast - which she never missed unless she told them ahead of time that she wouldn't be there. Thank goodness Tomeka immediately went to check on her! If the whole situation wasn't bad enough, it took them a while to contact my brother, and they didn't even call an ambulance. She is an 85 year old woman on blood thinner and was bleeding from a head wound that required several stitches and ended up with a subdural hematoma. They said she was talking to them and laughing and didn't think she needed an ambulance. Really?? Why would you not call an ambulance in this situation? I get notifying the family, but the first call should have been for an ambulance. I can't believe we were paying $3600/mo for this lack of care! Fortunately, we were able to move her to a facility close to our home in Knoxville, and she is receiving wonderful care. Bottom line...stay away from this place!!

The staff I have worked with genuinely care about the residents wellbeing and want the best care possible for them. They are very easy to work with and are efficient at their positions. They will call and visit with a family to ensure their facility is the proper place for their loved ones. You guys do great work! Much appreciated!
Hi mynamesteeaahh
As a former employee of the Rutherford who left I can let you know now that this place needs to be shut down the residents are not care for correctly it is bedbugs and roaches infested which you can look up poorly ran and very much so understaffed that all residents cannot be properly cared for. We were always told when the family was coming in to make sure that we were looking like we were doing something from nurse Brooke and Vicky Sims . The owner Joy does not care about the facility or the people that work there as long as she is she’s making money it doesn’t matter to her. They have an employee working there named Charlie who has been abusing patients physically and all staff is aware of it and nothing has been done and he is still currently working there. So before you choose this place Id think again
