Ages ago my husband and I took introductory flight lessons here, but today I was back with my 2 year old grandson to watch planes. The observation deck is amazing. It's indoors, so temperature and weather are not a factor for watching. He had a great time watching the planes, fuel trucks, and airport fire truck. There are panels of Cesna and Piper airplane pictures and descriptions to identify what we were seeing. Even the radio conversations are piped in. We will be back!

Ate twice at Barnstormers -- Friendly, quick service. Food was excellent. Bought fuel several times over 10 days and service was quick. Billing was accurate. Good place to do business.
Great Milenko
Great regional airport. Staff is helpful, facility is clean and modern, plenty of parking, free amenities...Nice restaurant " The Barn Stormer".

It depends if you go by the highway or the skyway... By the highway it's typically about two hours drive. If you go by the skyway, the average small GA aircraft traveling at around 100 knots would make the trip from here to the closest airport (KPMH) in about 45 minutes. This would vary slightly by aircraft speed and wind speed and direction of the given day. Flight distance is 75 miles.
The Ohio State University Airport (OSU), and John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) are about equidistant apart from Ohio State University. For OHIO University, they have their own airport: Gordon K. Bush Airport (UNI), 12 miles southwest of Athens.
5 minutes drive away
It depends! The airport is open 24 hrs 7 days a week 365 days a year rain, shine, or snow (sleet is usually not good for aircraft and flying). The restaurant..the Barnstormer is not open 24 hrs.
It's open now. They did an incredible job with it too.
C130's are awesome, why complain about it? Pull up a lawn chair and watch! Also, that was the army parachute jump with the 346th. A few times a year, they use the OSU airport for their practice jumps.
No
OSU has a flight school there and there a 3 more privately run flight schools as well.
No commercial flights go in or out of OSU Airport. Only privately owned and corporate aircraft.
