Had a girls trip to NY recently and decided to spend our last evening at Butter. It was amazing! The atmosphere, the lighting, and the restaurant were on point. The food was amazing! We started off with Parker house rolls and the Little Gem Lettuce salad. Very light and fresh. Moved onto the main course and had the Atlantic Salmon and Beef Wellington, with a side of smashed potatoes and broccolini. We paired it with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir. It was delicious. Can’t wait to be back! Only reason for 4 stars is because the manager asked us to close out and move to the bar since we wanted to have an after dinner drink. He actually told us that we had 10 minutes to finish up. We had only been there less than 2 hours so it’s not like we were there all night and the restaurant wasn’t on a wait. Either way, we closed out and moved to the bar. Still a nice evening; he just put a damper on it.

Rarely visit midtown west or celebrity chef restaurants, and this restaurant is a perfect example to continue not doing so. The space is okay, it has some relics from when the restaurant was newer. The food is the main problem: super dry bread (which is purchased), uninspired mains, and desserts so small that we thought it was a mistake. The staff all know the dishes are not great because when it's mentioned, they respond like they keep hearing about the low quality, and mention that certain dishes are being changed (e.g., the short ribs). Well, live and learn --- and no need to return.

Nice space for a work event or entertaining clients.

No you cannot reserve for a time when she is there but always ask for her when you are there..
Not ideal for kids (of course that depends on the child). Butter is up scale business clients during lunch. Very adult in the evening. Great bar, high end selections.
They ask you if you have a show to catch when you order and will advise you when you order.
Yes, they usually are.
We had no reservations...we just walked in. But you should be ok if you call a day or two ahead. Enjoy. Love Alex Garnashelli.
I have never seen Chef Alex cooking at butter midtown. She used to cook nights at butter downtown but has not been at the midtown restaurant in all the times I've been there.
I would call the restaurant directly and make the reservation over the phone.
They are secretive about that.
I was told that Alex does cook or at least stop in there a few nights a week but theres no set schedule as far as I know.
Because they probably only take reservations 28-30 days out
