Went on a spring day. Paid $10 at the Pay Station and walked about 15 minutes to a trail to the Bay Ocean townsite. The beach was completely devoid of people. Great views and nice sandy beach. Porta Potty at the parking lot. Would return with a picnic and beach chairs.

We had the entire beach to ourselves on a Saturday! We’ve traveled through 49 of the states (last stop Alaska) and this is one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever been to. It does require a small hike to get to it but the beach (and privacy) is completely worth it. We even came across three elk along the way! Grateful to have happened upon this beach.

Not many people here so you got the place to yourself. Trails in every direction so be ready to hike. If not in the mood to hike it’s just a small walk to the beach to relax and watch the ocean come in. If that doesn’t hit the spot you can hike to the east side and look at Tillamook bay which has beautiful mountains view and Bay City.

We love the Bayocean Spit hike, out on the Bay side to the south jetty and then back on the ocean beach. We really like how peaceful this place is, and how few people tend to be there.

was there this last summer and didnt see any signs prohibiting detecting.
You can drive the mile to the main parking lot.
Tons of animals, not all domestic,
Signs are posted at the parking lot, no overnight camping, however people camp on the beach there, advise for campers, you pack it in pack it out. We want to keep our beaches clean and beautiful!
