Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia

Very proud that our country provides such a nice cemetery for our veterans and their spouses. My parents have been at rest here for six years. The staff did a great job handling the arrangements and we are very pleased with how nice the grounds are kept up.

The caretaker that helped me with directions was the one that helped with the burial two years prior and recalled his name. I am glad that I stopped here to see my old shipmate. Thanks to the VA for a very well maintained and staffed facility. Izzy is in section 13 and closest to the main road for everyone driving by to see. Anyone from the USS Bergall SSN-667 will recognize the significance of the 13s and Izzy was the first to tell me about the ship's history and those 13s. Even when the ASR-13 hit the sonar dome in 1984 it turned out to be good as we got new paint and a new dome. Sonar Chief Izzy De Jesus was my friend and mentor and I was glad to have closure and to honor him with a visit.
