I love this campground. It is very quiet and peaceful. The Hiwassee State Scenic Rivers’ Gee Creek campground is a haven and a home-away-from-home to many river users. Campsites are more tent-friendly than most. Some of the campsites are close enough to the river you can be lulled to sleep each night by the sound of rushing water. An easy walk will lead you along the rivers edge for fishing, nature walks or a brisk dip in the cold waters. Gee Creek primitive campground has 47 sites, each with a table, fire ring and a grill. There is a fee for their use and the stay limit is two weeks. Public water and a bathhouse containing sinks, commodes, and hot showers are located near the center of the campground. The bathhouse is available to campers at no additional charge. Gee Creek offers a Group Camp field with 8 separate group campsites. These sites vary in size: Group Site 1, 2 & 7 ($30/night) can accommodate between 10-25 people per site. Group Sites 3-6 ($60/night) can accommodate between 25-50 people per site. Group Site 8 ($80/night) accommodates up to 75 people. Each site is equipped with 2 picnic tables and a fire ring. There is a large field area in the center of these sites that can be used for group activities. Please keep in mind we are a primitive campground. We do not have hook-ups and cannot accommodate electrical needs. Because this is a primitive campground, we do not allow the use of generators. Tent camping is permitted along most of the John Muir Trail above the Appalachia Powerhouse. (THIS IS NOT A STATE SCENIC TRAIL, However, IT DOES PARALLEL THE STATE SCENIC RIVER.) It is a USDA FS managed area of the Cherokee National Forest.

My family and I stayed for our first time at the campground on Memorial Day weekend and we absolutely loved it and enjoyed ourselves. It was so peaceful especially at night listening to the river flow and the wind which just made it so much more relaxing. Our campsite was very nice and big enough to accommodate us. It was convenient to the bathhouse / restrooms which were very nice and were constantly cleaned well which we loved although it could be updated on certain things. Our kids had a blast at the playground and loved riding their scooters around the campground because they had plenty of space. They also enjoyed getting to hold the snakes during the snake showing event they had. We really liked the fact that the Park Rangers made their rounds throughout the day to ensure everyone's safety and make sure everything was ok at each campsite. For those of us that just love to get away from home for a few days that don't hike or go floating down the river it would be nice especially for kids if the owner would consider putting a splash pad in to give kids something else to do while during their stay. The playground is very nice and has different play equipment to play on it just needs to be pressure washed or cleaned really good. Overall we were very pleased and happy during our stay and will be going back more often.

Clean. Grounds and showers are kept clean. Ranger patrol keeps it quiet. Great place to go just camp and relax. Still close enough to the Ocoee to go rafting.
