I just spoke with Jose from OMI and I had all my questions answered in the most kind and professional manner. Thank you Jose!

BEWARE families with loved ones who have passed away!!!!!! My daughter passed away two weeks ago, and I was told that my daughter went to the indigent program because the medical investigation office only holds people for thirteen days with no exceptions. My father passed away two years ago, and they gave us time to raise money for his funeral. I waited several days for a phone call. I was told told someone named Lavanda would call me and this Lavanda would help me. They never called and ignored my family. back, and I never got a phone call back. The so called Doctor who did the autopsy ignored me! The lack of disrespect in sending my daughter indigent is beyond disrespectful. My daughter was not a charity case, we just needed time to get things together. This has caused our family so much more grief. This office is heartless!

I'm having a very good experience with OMI. They displayed a great amount of compassion with my father's case and work diligently to obtain the most accurate and detailed information possible.

That is a question for a funeral home. The OMI does not cremate decedents. I'm sorry for your loss.
The office does not coordinate viewings. This would need to be requested/arranged with the funeral home or service handling the cremation. I'm sorry for your loss.
There should be police reports for unidentified people found. I would talk to the local police. Hopefully, they have pictures with their John Does. I hope they are ok.
Hi Mary, The biggest question is, is there a will/executorship in place? Where is the resting place? Who will issue a nm death certificate? Is the person terminally Ill? Who, and where is the legal next of kin? Will they be notified of the death, and if not, why? Is hospice involved, and who will legally pronounce?
Usually happens the next day, but can take two days if they are really busy
