Employee's here don't understand (or aren't intelligent enough to understand) NM law as written. By law, It is not required to have your social security card for a marriage license , merely a SSN. However, the geniuses that work here assert that you need to have your card to get married. I was happy to give my hard earned money to Sandoval County where the clerks were much more informative and helpful, something that was very much appreciated when getting married!

1 Civic Plaza 6th floor. Probate and clerks are in the same office. You can always call 468-7777 for inquiries for Bernalillo County.

Marriage licenses are public record, the cost of the license would be at most $1.50. You can go to the office inperson or benco.gov/clerk and order it online. Remeber, marriage licenses are segregated by county within the state, so if you obtained your license from Bernalillo County then contact Bernalillo County for your copy. If from another county in the state, contact that county.
