Egg Salad

One of my favorite little cafes in Midtown. The selection of drinks and foods is huge, tons of sandwiches, toast, cupcakes, cheesecakes, waffles, bagels, acai bowls. We had the waffles, cheesecakes, and iced lattes. It's never super packed, even at lunch, so it's easy to find a seat.

Negative experience. Just wanted to order an egg & cheese on a bagel, and in trying to upsell me the woman at the counter kept asking (what was apparently) “bacon?“. I had never said bacon. I thought she was asking about a bagel so I kept saying “yes, a bagel. Yes, a poppy seed bagel please”. I was inevitably served a bacon, egg & cheese, which I brought back the counter since I’m a vegetarian. With amazing customer service, the young woman angrily confronted me “I asked you two times if you wanted bacon!” and I then had to more explicitly explain what happened and how I never asked for bacon. They made a new sandwich but I was never refunded the price difference for a meatless sandwich. No plans to go back here. Lose the upsell attempts and improve customer service

My husband and I visited New York for a few days this week and stayed in a hotel not far away from Cafe Aroma. We went for breakfast every morning and a couple of times for dessert. The food is great and the staff is wonderful! I highly recommend this place and we will be back next time we visit the city!
