They do not seem to follow any CDC protocols—No hand sanitizer or temperature checks. They wouldn't allow any mask wearing in class even though our daughter felt more comfortable with it on. As an essential worker, their rational for the lack of protocols seemed reckless and irresponsible. If they cut corners in this area and bend the rules, they probably bend other rules as well. They lost our trust. As such, we will take our business elsewhere. They didn't seem to care.

Have been training for couple of months now, and I have to say it is pretty great, everyone is cool and willing to help you. I am glad I made this decision, have no regrets.

The best karate dojo where valued traditional both Okinawian an Japaneese karate school's traditions, philosophy, style, customs that help develop really authentic spirit of Budo, strong confident character which is indispensible in achieving one's life goals. Amazingly charizmatic Sensei Michael coaches and teaches every aspect of karatedo: spirit, mind, body which is very rare in modern dojos nowadays.

Questions & Answers

Are kids in separate classes by age? Or is it just one big class?

I'm an adult student here but I also sometimes see the end of kids classes. It's amazing how kids actually learn karate here -- real karate -- but they also are receiving age-specific instruction. This is a really cool place :)

Do you pay for classes individually or the whole month? Do you get charged for testing and new belts?

All tuition is for unlimited classes — we encourage students, including kids, to train as often as possible! Also, we never charge a fee for rank testing (“new belts”) — testing is completely fee, and their are no other costs to train at Goju Karate besides your monthly tuition.

Are there adult classes? 18 year old male.

Yes, we are a Goju Ryu Karatedo dojo teaching full, traditional, Goju Ryu Karatedo. You might want to visit our website and book a free Intro Session to tour the dojo and meet Sensei, and discuss training. Here's the link for that: https://gojukarate.com/start-class/

Is there online training?

PONSIAN Ismail | Oct 28, 2021

You can find out more about training by booking a free Intro Session here: https://gojukarate.com/start-class/ There's no cost, and you'll be able to tour the dojo, meet with Sensei, and get more information!

Can I get some price estimates? Plans etc. cash debit/credit? Etc

Tuition is $200 per month for unlimited classes -- train as much as your schedule allows. There are no plans, contracts, or anything else like that. We accept all forms of payment including Apple Pay. We also have tuition assistance for low-income students who can't afford to pay full tuition, thanks to generous donations from supporters.

Anyone know if a total beginner can train here? The school looks amazing and I know it's highly rated and basically famous, but I've never done martial arts of any kind.

Absolutely! In our adult program, more than half the students who train at our dojo have never had martial arts experience or any kind before they joined the dojo. Take a free Intro class (see our website) and get a tour, talk to Sensei, and find out for yourself.... we think you’ll be delightfully surprised to find out how easy it is to start :)
