Very clean facility and caring workers. They truly take pride in their work and handle all aspects of what they do with care.

My husband and I unexpectedly lost our special needs daughter. She passed away at home and I was sad to think we could not donate any of her organs but the very next day I received a call from the Donor Network and asked if we are willing to donate Brooklyn's heart valves and it was the easiest decision and a way for our daughter to give back in a huge way knowing pediatric heart valves are desperately needed. Thank you for helping us understand the process.

Questions & Answers

How can I remove my "donor" status from my Driver's License

MARIA AGUIRRE | Oct 27, 2021
Donor Network of Arizona | Oct 27, 2021

Hi Maria, to update your donation profile or remove your registration as an organ, eye and tissue donor in the DonateLifeAZ Registry, please log in to your profile on our Donate Life Arizona website. Once you've confirmed your removal from the DonateLifeAZ Registry, you can contact your local Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division office to get a new credential without the donor heart. If you need assistance, please give us a call.

Why has nobody at this organization answered a question that was asked twice ... Question is what happens with the remains of the person after organs are used?

PJ Geraghty | Oct 28, 2019

Hi, Nan. Donor Network of Arizona coordinates with the funeral provider chosen by the donor's family to ensure that the donor's family can have whatever funeral services are desired. Please see the website at http://www.dnaz.org for more information and for faster contact options.

After cremation, will ashes, etc. be returned to the family?

Susan Rand | Oct 28, 2019
Donor Network of Arizona | Oct 27, 2020

Organ and tissue donation for transplantation is regulated by the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act which states donation is a gift. While Donor Network of Arizona assumes all costs related to donation for transplantation, we are unable to provide compensation for burial or cremation costs. However, we will coordinate with the funeral home you or your loved ones have made arrangements with. If you choose cremation, your loved ones will work with the funeral home to have ashes returned to your family. If you have further questions, please give us a call at 602-241-5550.

where does the deceased body go immediately upon death? I would assume to a mortuary of my choice then where does it go?

Dorothy Romine | Oct 28, 2018
PJ Geraghty | Oct 28, 2018

Hi, Dorothy. Thanks for asking. Donors are transported to the DNA offices for tissue recovery, and then transported to the funeral home/mortuary chosen by the donor's family. For more information, check our website at http://www.dnaz.org
