I was looking for a BJJ gym with early morning class in Katy and I found this and another gym. I tried both and the decision was easy. Rilion Gracie Academy not only has great coaches (Spencer and Mario) but the other students are also great, creating an excellent environment. Being a beginner white belt, I am constant learning from the coaches and also from other students since everyone has a teacher mindset and want you to succeed.

Top notch BJJ instructors who are not only skilled as practitioners, but just as skilled as teachers who can articulate and help students understand the practical application of BJJ as both a competitive sport and as a means of self defense. The environment is welcoming for competitive athletes and novices alike and both the instructors and senior students are very helpful in assisting the newer students. As a competitor and long time student of martial arts, I'd highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to learn BJJ and get a great workout in the process.

I've been looking for an academy that trains both self-defense jiu-jitsu (escaping headlocks, standing guillotines, standing armbars, etc) and sport jiu-jitsu. Does this school make an emphasis on street self defense jiu-jitsu?

Unfortunately we are not running womens only, however, we always have a small group of women in classes and if you only feel comfortable trainning with them , you are welcome to do so. We also offer a no roll class BJJ101 mostly focus in self defense. Thanks.
