First and foremost, patients should check with their primary care physician before any dental work can be done if on a blood thinner. Generally, a simple filling or restorative procedure normally does not require a patient to stop taking blood thinner medication. However, a surgical procedure or deep scaling may require patients to come off the blood thinner prescription, but again we normally refer patients to their physician for guidance.
