I was just doing a small simple project, Chris helped me out with info and samples. Can't say enough about the customer service at Tef Cap.

Contacted Tef-Cap to order a small sample of PTFE heat shrink (to qualify the product before ordering larger amounts) and the gentleman on the phone informed me that it would cost him too much to have someone pull all the different sizes from stock, even though we were trying to purchase the assortment. I contact another supplier (Zeus), and the person immediately sent out a sample order without charge – night and day difference between the two companies.

I am having trouble getting the ptfe tubing to shrink. What temperature do you recommend.? We have tried several different methods but still can not get full recovery.

Lindsey, Heat Shrink PTFE Tubing is probably the hardest material to try to shrink so I am not surprised that you have questions about it. PTFE heat shrink tubing requires approximately 625 °F ± 25 °F to start the shrinking process. As soon as the tubing reaches this point the material will start to turn from a milky white to clear. It is at this point that the shrinking process has begun. Lower temperatures will cause the material to shrink some but you will not get full recovery until you see the 625ºF. Most of the time a standard heat gun will get you the temperature needed , but depending upon the subsurface of the part you are shrinking into a larger heat source will be needed such as an oven. This will insure that the entire product has be saturated with heat and will shrink evenly. See the link below for info on shrinking PTFE Tubing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYSc1tOBhtE

Does Tef Cap sell direct or do we have to go though distributors?

Kristen, Tef Cap does sell direct to end users. Smaller orders and short lengths are not a problem for us to take care of.
