My mother is 92 years old and just got out of the hospital yesterday. I have never had to change her, feed her or dress her so I was at a complete loss. Nurse blessing came over today and showed me everything I needed to know and answered every question the family had. Then, she helped us do more than she was asked, just to make it easier because she could obviously tell I did not know what I was doing. Her name is not just her first name it is actually an adjective that describes her to a T. I am truly grateful for her.

Amity Hospice was absolutely amazing! They worked hard to have the same woman go see/help my Mother every day, which made a BIG difference considering her worsening dementia. The night my Mother made her transition, I called Amity, and they had a nurse there in less than an hour and they called the crematory we had selected and had them come to pick up the body. And all this was after 10 pm. Everyone at Amity was always gentle and kind with Mother, even though she was not always gentle or kind - all due to the horrible dementia. My hat is off to all those who do such a hard job, and do it with love, compassion, and patience. Thank you Amity! You made a really hard part of life a bit more tolerable.

I was so grateful to have their service to care for my father before he passed away. They are knowledgeable and they care very much the well-being of our whole family. Anytime we need it any equipment of medication, they were right there for us. I thank God to put them in our path. They’re just not enough words for me to express my appreciation.

Yes you may call 911, however all hospices request that you call us first so that 911 is not necessary for your healthcare needs.
No; a hospice diagnosis and the related symptoms (and their management) are what hospice is treating. These diagnoses are moving into your built in hospice benefit within your health insurance. All other diagnoses maintain their traditional insurance coverage.
No; when a patient’s symptoms are well managed and 24/7 nursing is not necessary.
If a patient would like to continue to see their PCP for conditions or medical issues unrelated to the hospice diagnosis we encourage patients to see their doctor.
Hospices are all required to follow the same federal rules and regulations set forth by Medicare and the Federal Government meaning that all hospices should provide the same care. However, much like individuals, no two hospices are exactly alike.
Hospice is actually a medical service that is provided to patients in whatever environment they are in.
No; hospice patients are free to leave their homes, visit with loved ones, and even travel.
