How is the rating 3.5 with this ratio of reviews? I'm no rocket scientist, but I'm pretty sure it should be more like 1.5 stars - at the most. The 5 star ratings are clearly not given by people with experience living at the (what should be) "Safe Haven", dealing with the shamelessly RUDE & just plain MEAN Joy Ranton, and uncaring, condescending director Marilyn Langenheder. They alone give this place a bad name & reputation. Why else would the ONLY place of its kind (the kind of which are created to provide refuge & assistance to displaced Ellis County residents, mostly fallen on hard times) sit EMPTY? How is that possible & why do we allow this place to continue its abuse of power? Daniel's Den, a Christian organization sits practically vacant (aside from the occasional verbally abusive Joy Ranton) though comfortably sized enough for 10 - 12 small families or maybe 30 women (or men)). It is not utilized by the county because the people who have been entrusted to provide, abuse their authority and benefit from government grants & private donors while those it was designed for, do not. Lastly, perhaps anyone who donates to this phony business should be made aware that ONLY name brand clothing is to be kept - meaning Michael Kors, Nike & Coach kind of brands - not Target or Payless: specific instructions given when sorting generous donations. If you want to help those in need, maybe giving to an honest non-profit would be better suited; a non-profit that is desperately needed for far too many Ellis County residents, who currently must seek shelter in surrounding counties.

I agree joy! Is very rude and am so glad someone else said it. Too I hope that with both of us reporting her attitude that something will be done it is unacceptable period!!
