This is where boys become men and men then become Sailors. I'm unbelievably proud to have started my Navy career here.

Well kept Military Base. Full of service members (mostly sailors, obvisouly). Great all around community.

Phenomenal experience during the 3rd Iteration of NSI in summer of 2021. Beautiful and spacious campus, vast green fields, and air conditioned living quarters. The food in the chow halls was some of the best I have ever ate - apple and peach oatmeal for breakfast, fish and potatoes or lobster bisque for lunch, and grilled chicken and vegetables for dinner, among many of the foods the kitchen staff provided. The best part? Hearing the various recruit divisions calling cadence while we marched or were PTing, and soon singing "Hey Sailor" and "Sailors at War" ourselves. Shoutout Chief Miles, GySgt Martinez, the A-01 MI's, and Bravo Co. who made this experience legendary!

There is a camp and RV area by the lakefront. See mwr for a pass. It's open to dod employees, active duty, reserves and retirees.
Try www.navyfederal.org for the Navy Federal Credit Union.
Really dont know sorry but if you get one close to the base it will probably cost you more
Their maybe several campgrounds around the base call mwr operations for details..
O'Hara is closer. Depending on the cost Milwaukee is definitely more convenient in every way.
Call the bases main number and ask.
Before the Pandemic, a recruit is allowed up to 5 family members. My instincts tells me 3 people should be okay because of social distance regulations but you don't need a proof of vaccination. Facial coverings is a must on all government installations.
Yes
Are you talking about Midway airport if you are it is an hour and five minutes and about 56 miles
No very secure and it should stay secured to protect our sailors
It is my Father i am asking about. He joind when he was 20 born 08/13/1925 served all the way to 2400 May 1946
North chicago, I was with seals there including mark when he died, was tragic time.
I was in Navy sounds correct
After about the first week .it also depends on your company commander. Good luck
There aren't really visiting hours per se. If you know a Sailor or servicemember staying on board the Naval Station, they can sponsor visitors on the base with a photo ID. The pass and ID office has hours they are open posted on the building, which is located near the main gate.
Boot camp graduations are held Friday morning 46 out of 52 weeks per year at Recruit Training Command located aboard Naval Station Great Lakes, IL 60088.
There is quite a few. My suggestion would be to do a search , but you'll find: Red Roof Inn Navy Gateway Howard Johnson Navy Lodge Holiday Inn and Suites So find one in your price range.... Congrats on your Sailor!
