I've been here a number of times and it's usually a good experience. I appreciate the technicians. The front desk is just so-so. They seem to be on top of things, and do a good job of helping people understand how much they will owe ahead of time but they need to work on the kindness factor. Some are pretty crabby. They could be a lot friendlier in general. They almost all seem like they have low morale or something. They could SMILE more and help people feel relaxed before a procedure by being caring and kind. Also, the wait when you call is ROUGH. But the technicians in the back more than make up for that. I also like that I can get an appointment almost right away if needed. UPDATE: I removed 1 star because their billing practices, now that they are owned by Dignity, are shady. Selma Carlson will bill for a mammogram ultrasound under preventative if it's not diagnostic (routine, in other words) but SLO Diagnostic won't. This is so they can charge more. I don't like this. Dignity is the WORST with shady billing practices and I will be moving my business elsewhere because of it.

I had an MRI yesterday at sldc (and previously 2mammograms). It was a really positive experience. They were on time and very nice and accomodating. Both scheduling and check in were easy, the staff in the back were great, I called medical records twice and they were prompt and pleasant, and I wholeheartedly trust their radiologists. If I had to be critical I would say the call wait times can be a tad long, but even that criticism is a stretch. I won't go anywhere else.

My mother had stereotactic breast biopsy 4 days ago, it was the most horrible experience, my mother was attached in a mammogram machine in pain most of the procedure time. When I knew the medical director was going to be the one performing the procedure, I expected the best service ever, but it wasn't. He never introduced himself to me(translator) or his patient (my mother), or made eye contact during the procedure, only at the end when MD said thank you and bye. MD never explained step by step what he was doing, he never ask my mother if she was ok. They sat me in the corner where I was not able to see anything at all. I had to relay what one of the tecnicians was telling me, so I can inform my mother. MD was too busy orienting a new doctor and he forgot the basics of patient care, COMMUNICATION, compassion, confortabillity, and so on. At the end when both of the tecnicians were cleaning after the procedure, I witnessed the numbing medication was over half of the syringe with the needle attached on it, and the tecnician wasted to discard it. My question is when my mother complained of horrible pain why this numbing medication wasn't use? My mother totally regreat accepting this procedure to be done at this place, because of horrible pain. Mom said It was super painfull, and torture, I felt like I did not have numbing medication or not enough. I cried inside when I saw my mother suffering with extreme pain, when the tecnician was only applying pressure to stop the bleeding for sbout 10 minutes. Now 4 days later my mother can't resume to normal activities yet. The day prior, my mom had ultrasound biopsy of the left breast, that was performed beautifully, by a different doctor and my mother just had mild pain when applying numbing med for about 10 seconds, and that's it. The doctor told my mother the stereotactic biopsy will be in an unconfortable position siting in a chair, but not painfull. My mother and I knew what to expect.

I have used this facility for almost 8 years for various scans, ultrasounds, etc. Every time I have been treated extremely well and the appointment person on the phone has gone above and beyond to accomodate.

Questions & Answers

I have a bunch of MRI scans to complete for a neurologist in thousand oaks. Can I have you do them and you can send the results to her?

I do not work at San Luis Diagnostics. Sorry. However, I do know that your test results can and will be sent to the desired Dr's office of your choice and AFTER you complete a HIPPA release form. Be sure to ask for the form during your visit and fill it out completely. Include the information of the doctors office you want the records to go to and include a FAX number, land line contact and email if possible. Hope this helps. ~~ Pauly D Valli

I have same issues, my MD orders both....if you only have a mammogram and they find something questionable they will get auth for further testing, ultra sound. They will take good care of you.
