If you ignore your wisdom teeth, they may eventually become a problem to your oral health. They can cause issues with infection, inflammation and may even damage the surrounding teeth. It is better to have wisdom teeth removed as soon it’s found that they won’t come up on their own. Removing wisdom teeth is easier than you might think, and it can save you a lot of headache later on in life.
In order to determine if you will need a dental crown, we will perform an examination and look for any teeth that have broken or cracked or teeth that have large fillings in them. If you are going to be having or have had a root canal done, we may automatically schedule you to have a dental crown placed.
You may require a dental crown if one of your teeth has broken or cracked, or you might need this restoration if you have an incredibly large filling in one or more of your teeth.
Most crowns can easily last for decades before they may need to be replaced.
A dental crown is a restoration that helps to cover a tooth that has been compromised or damaged.
Six Month Smiles uses clear brackets and tooth-colored wiring to help straighten and align teeth in about six months. This ensures that no one will even know you’re straightening your teeth because of the clear technology being used. Six Month Smiles is suitable for older teens and adults over the age of 16. The treatment helps with overcrowding, crookedness, uneven spacing and even under and overbites.
We begin with an exam and consultation that involves x-rays. We then create a personalized treatment plan specific to Invisalign wear. Impressions are taken to create your first set of aligners. You’ll need to wear these aligners for 22 hours a day and only remove them when brushing and eating. You will need to come back into the office at regular intervals to have new aligners made for you over the course of treatment. Invisalign treatment can take anywhere from six months to about two or three years depending on orthodontic severity. If you think you might need Invisalign and want to know more about the treatment, call our office and one of our staff members can answer all of your questions.
To determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, you’ll need to come in for a consultation appointment and examination. Invisalign is often recommended to older teens and adults who can commit to keeping the aligners in for 22 hours a day. Younger children may remove the aligners and forget to put them back in, prolonging treatment and halting results. Most patients who want Invisalign can safely have the treatment done.
Invisalign is often recommended to patients who want to avoid the stigma of bulky, metal traditional braces. You might be an older teen or adult who wants to benefit from orthodontic treatment, but you’re hesitant to have work done because you don’t want to wear metal brackets and wires. Invisalign is ideal for patients who have crooked, crowded or unevenly spaced teeth. It can be effective at treating under and overbites as well.
Invisalign has long been used to correct an array of orthodontic problems faced by children, teens and adults alike. Invisalign uses a system of clear trays, known as aligners, to apply gentle pressure to the teeth. This pressure can eventually correct issues involving crowding, spacing and crookedness so that you’re left with a straight and beautiful smile. Invisalign aligners are clear in nature, so no one but you and the dental team will even know you’re wearing them.
You can’t remove dental implants because they’re fixed right into your bone, replacing your teeth in a way that’s closest to your natural teeth.
The average implant process occurs in multiple steps. You may require more than one healing stage. So, there’s a varied healing period, depending on your health, how many teeth you need replacing and other factors. However, the healing process generally takes anywhere from six to 12 weeks.
Very rarely does an individual’s body reject an implant. The jawbone usually readily accepts the dental implant. The very few rejections are due to rare allergies to the titanium alloy that make up the implant. Another reason why an implant could fail is if you don’t take proper care of it after your surgery. Without excellent oral hygiene, natural teeth fail and fall out eventually. Dental implants are no different. When you take good care of your teeth and your implants, it will help prevent gum decay and structure failure later on.
While discomfort can vary between people, most individuals report getting their dental implant was much less uncomfortable than they anticipated it to be. During the surgical dental implant procedure, the dentist will give you an anesthetic, so you should feel minimal discomfort if any. They’ll use gentle techniques, and since the environment they’re working in is clean, there’s little risk of infection. If you follow the dentist’s post-operative instructions and take the prescribed antibiotics, you should experience minimal discomfort. Your dentist will likely prescribe you pain medication as well, but many individuals don’t use them.
Dentists have used dental implants for many years, and implant technology continues to advance. Today, dental implants are sophisticated devices that highly trained professionals put in place. They’re one of the most reliable ways to replace missing teeth.
To determine if you are a good candidate for a dental bridge, we will perform an examination. In order for a dental bridge to fit securely, it needs two abutment teeth to attach to. If you are lacking enough natural dentition for the bridge to attach, we may suggest dental implants as a way to fill in your smile properly. Most patients who want a dental bridge can easily have the procedure done in our office.
The most common reason for needing a fixed dental bridge is because you are missing one or more of your natural teeth. If you are not a good candidate for a dental implant or have already had one placed, the bridge can easily be attached so that it fills in your smile and reduces the look of gaps. Bridges aren’t just cosmetic in nature, since they can easily help to improve the functionality of your oral health as well. Your bridge can last for many years with proper care and good oral hygiene.
A dental bridge is a type of restoration that works to replace one or more missing teeth in the mouth. The majority of dental bridge work can easily last for decades before the restoration may need to be replaced. The bridge will be attached to the two surrounding teeth around the tooth that has been missing. Bridges are ideal for patients who aren’t otherwise good candidates for dental implants.
Some people may choose to have bonding done because they have cracks or chips on one or more of their front teeth. Another reason you may be considering bonding is because you have unsightly gaps and spaces between your front teeth. Because bonding can last for up to a decade, it is a long-term solution to many smile problems. You may even choose bonding if you have deep discoloration that whitening is not able to remedy.
Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that enables you to cover imperfections and flaws at the front of your smile. Bonding typically lasts for about 10 years before it is recommended that it be replaced. You can make use of bonding if you have cracks or chips at the front of your smile or if you have spaces and gaps that are causing you to feel badly about your appearance. Bonding is easily done in the office and takes just minutes to carefully apply.
Implants are titanium posts that are implanted deep into the bone of the jaw. Over the course of a few months, the implants naturally fuse with the bone. This creates a secure anchor for other dental restorations to be placed on top. You can have crowns, bridges and even dentures made specifically for your new implants.
Implants are often needed when you’re missing one or more of your natural teeth. Implants essentially anchor any dental restoration needed. You might need a single crown to replace just one missing tooth or a full bridge. Other patients use their implants to securely keep a denture in place to prevent it from slipping throughout the day.
You’re a good candidate for dental implants if you are able to undergo oral surgery and have the ability to heal from the procedure once it’s done. Likewise, you need enough solid, healthy bone structure in the area where the implants will be placed. If you’re lacking bone in these areas, you may need a bone graft before the surgery can be done. Most patients who want or need implants can safely and easily have the procedure done in our office.
We begin by administering either a local or general anesthetic to make the procedure comfortable for you. Once this is done, we will create a small incision through the gums and insert the implant. The implant is inserted deep into the bone of the jaw, giving it enough room to osseointegrate (fuse) with the surrounding bone. Once it’s bonded, you’ll come back in and have a special restoration made for the post. Implants can last for 20 to 30 years before they may need to be replaced, but it’s not uncommon to have implants that last much longer than this. If you think you might need a dental implant, call our office today and we will be happy to further assist you.
Sealants are protective coatings applied to the back teeth. They work by forming a barrier between your teeth and any plaque and bacteria in the mouth. When applied correctly, sealants can prevent cavities and deep staining. They can last for up to three years before re-application is needed.
Most patients are good candidates for special fluoride treatments. The treatment itself requires absolutely no anesthetic and is done easily in our office within seconds. In fact, we can provide you with these treatments in conjunction with other procedures being done. For example, it’s not uncommon for our patients to receive fluoride treatments during their bi-annual checkups.
We will perform an examination and take x-rays to determine if you might need a filling. Oftentimes, we find these small areas of decay during your bi-annual checkup appointments. It is important to have fillings placed early on so that they are not able to get worse. Fillings can be done on both pediatric and adult teeth.
If you fail to come into the office for a routine cleaning and exam, tartar will continue to buildup on your teeth, causing issues with tooth decay and gum inflammation. Minor problems will eventually become more severe, requiring more extensive work to treat. Regardless of how long it’s been since your last dental appointment, we look forward to you coming in and taking a proactive approach to the health of your smile.
Exams allow us to check for problems before they’re allowed to get worse. Cleanings are essential in removing tartar, stains and buildup while caring for the health of your gums. You should be having cleanings and exams done every six months as part of a solid, comprehensive preventative care routine. Even if it’s been awhile since your last dental appointment, we offer care in a judgement-free, warm and inviting atmosphere.
A root canal is a procedure that involves removing the pulp of a tooth. Inside each of your teeth is an inner pulp which houses the nerves and blood supply that are necessary in keeping the tooth strong and vital.

For patients who have little or no dental insurance coverage, flexible payment programs can be arranged . One of these flexible payment programs is CareCredit, which allows for patients to finance for dental care.
You may not even think of your favorite foods as contributing to the staining of your teeth. Foods like berries, chocolate and red sauces can all eventually yellow your teeth and cause a dulled appearance. Contact Alsbury Dental to learn more.
Teeth naturally yellow and dull over time. This process is sped up by the foods and drinks we consume and other lifestyle habits. Thankfully, professional whitening can help to lift and dissolve these stains. Schedule an appointment with your cosmetic dentist in Alsbury Dental today.
It’s best to stick to softer foods for the first few months. Like oatmeal, • Smoothies, • Protein shakes, • Yogurt etc.
By eating hard, solid and sticky foods makes a shift to the implant. So, you should avoid Hard pretzels and chips, Chewing gum, • Hard veggies and fruits, • Sandwiches, • Crusty breads, • Popcorn, • Steaks and hard meats, • Ice cubes, • Sticky candy. Call Alsbury Dental for more information.
The dentist's office may be the safest place you will visit all day. At Alsbury Dental, and every other dental office, we sterilize or throw away every instrument after each use. At Alsbury Dental we will wear the mask, so you don’t have to.
We administer a local anesthetic to carefully and fully numb the area. The decay is then removed from the tooth. The small hole that is left behind is prepped for the new filling. We match the color of your tooth with the color of the composite resin that we’ll use. The composite is then placed into the hole and smoothed out. It’s cured with a bright light to prevent it from falling out. With proper care and oral hygiene, your brand new filling can last for years. We can place multiple fillings at the same time, if they’re on the same side of the mouth.
The most common reason for needing a filling is because you have a cavity. If caught early on, cavities can be filled and the decay is not able to go deeper into the tooth. If you forgo having a filling placed, the decay will eventually make its way down through the tooth until it reaches the pulp. Once the decay has reached the pulp, or nerve, of the tooth, a root canal is needed.
Tooth decay is one of the most common dental-related problems. In its early stages, decay can be removed and the small hole that was create in the tooth can be filled. The filling procedure is done quickly and easily, and the majority of fillings can last for years and even decades. We use composite resin (tooth-colored) fillings so that they blend in well with the rest of your smile.
We will go over your health and medical history before any type of sedation is administered. Because sedation is monitored closely, it is often safe for patients of all ages. This means that both pediatric and adult patients alike can benefit from sleep dentistry. We may recommend this option for extensive, more complicated procedures.
Sedation dentistry is helpful in making your dental visits more comfortable. We use IV sedation to help put you into a sleep-like state while in our office. We may recommend sleep dentistry if you’re having a complicated surgery or procedure done, or if you’re nervous or panicked to undergo treatment. Sedation is safe for all patients and is a great way to alleviate dental anxiety.
