Anthology is a gorgeous facility with really great staff. The administrative team is cohesive and I’ve seen them go above and beyond for their residents.

My parents moved into Anthology of Plano (then The Village at Mapleshade) over 3 years ago and lived there until they each passed earlier this year. It's impossible to expect any living community to be perfect, especially during the challenges wrought by the pandemic, but my parents both received really good care over the 3 years that they lived at Anthology of Plano. There were many things that caused us to choose Anthology, but one significant reason was that there were a good number of married couples and single gentleman residents. We did see three different directors over those three years, but there was very little turnover with the caregivers that worked with my parents. My mom was placed under hospice care in her last few weeks at Anthology and between the hospice nurse and the Anthology nurses, she was cared for with kindness and compassion. My dad was not in great health in his last two years at Anthology, but he was very social right up until he passed away unexpectedly just last month. He enjoyed the dining room, playing Bingo and especially the weekly poker game. I visited my dad 2-3 times a week since the community reopened to visitors last spring and always felt welcome and really enjoyed getting to know all the different staff members who cared for my dad on a daily or weekly basis including the awesome staff members that directed all the activities and outings, the PT therapists, and his awesome med-techs who partnered with me to make sure that my dad's needs were being met. We will always be grateful that we found Anthology at that critical time when both my parents reached the point of not being able to live on their own. Now that both of my parents have passed, I will really miss seeing all the friendly faces at Anthology each week.

Reading the reviews online you would think that Anthology of Plano is a wonderful place to live. I wonder who posted these reviews but my own family's experience is very different to what I have read. People speak highly of the Executive Director Linda but she is no longer there and has been replaced by a woman the residents NEVER see as she sits behind a closed door in her office. From what other family members says, the new ED makes no effort to get to know the residents or staff. She rarely, if ever, responds to questions or complaints. If she does respond, she passes it off to another staff member. There is ZERO communication. We get a generic email every so often that seems to come from the corporate office which tells us very little about what is happening in this particular building. The care is sub-par. My mother pushes her alert button, as she has been instructed to do, only to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour for someone to check on her. Many times she has had to sit in her own urine waiting for the help she was promised when she moved in. It's inhumane. There is also nothing to do besides bingo and happy hours. When an activity is on the calendar, no one shows up. It's basically a ghost town and a very sad and lonely place for anyone to live. The building, once lovely and welcoming, has become dingy and rundown. The staff, which used to be vibrant and friendly, look miserable and it's normal to see them with scowls on their faces. My mother has been made to feel like a burden many times when she asks for the bare minimum that an assisted living which gets almost $7,000 a month from us. We are considering moving mom to another place where she will be active, happy and taken care of. So many residents have left over the last few months. It's heartbreaking what has happened to this once wonderful community. Staff turnover, inedible food, residents feeling imprisoned in their rooms and inconsistent care. Before moving your parent there, I highly recommend doing your due diligence. Talk to other family members to get the real story behind the sales pitch.

My Mom entered when it was Village at Mapleshade and we loved this place. Since that time we have seen great staff leave or were fired. There was a constant change of caregivers and nurses. One of the best Medical Directors have left because of needing to fire yet more of her staff leaving less people to care for my Mom and others. I believe that Anthology is more interested in the bottom line than the residents!
