First Monday Trade Days is a great place to find just about anything you may need, and everything you don't need! Or maybe didn't know you needed.
And living in Canton, the First Monday grounds are a fabulous place to walk and get exercise the other 26 days of each month when Trade Days aren't going on. Lots of open spaces, plus many covered pavilions when it's a bit rainy. My dog and I love to walk here.
Yes, just remember that lots of animals touch and per-poop on the same ground your dog will be on. Be advised that not every animal has had it's shots so you are chancing your fur baby to catch something another animal may have. Dogs and tiny babies don't enjoy the crowds, noise and temperature s as adults seem to. Think before you bring them especially in severe cold and heat. If your baby is used to central air they may be miserable and therefore you will be also. Crying or barking continually is not fun for anyone. Consider a sitter for the day and enjoy yourself more.
You can find almost anything you want, don't need, got to have and more. From food vendors to antiques new and used stuff. Be prepared to walk as this is a large place.
It seems Canton Trade Days doesn't live up to its popularity during the last month of the year. Got excited to go and find my one year old grandson some unique Christmas gifts and was unable to find anything that I couldn't get at Walmart or Dollar General at 5 times the cheaper price. Very disappointing trip
it's really confusing till you figure it out. it's the Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday before the First Monday of the month. love going always find something
Some do some don't.Bring cash. There are plenty of Atms but they can have issues and often run out of money. The fees are also very high. During high volume times credit card machines can cease working. The cell towers in the area are inadequate to handle all the volume. If your group is going to split up and meet later.Choose a meeting place and time. Cell phones can become inoperable on very busy days.
I would suggest speaking to a small business CPA about that. Depending on how much you sell, that will tell you the best path forward. Maintain all of your sales receipts so you know what you will owe in taxes as a general rule. There is no tax paperwork inherent in selling anything, just in paying the government at the end of the year. You could go as simple as an itemized tax return, though that might be expensive if you sell a lot of items.
Depends on location. You can rent from the City of Canton or Lewis. Personally, I rent from Lewis and have 2 spaces inside Pavilion 1. Rent is $335 plus you'll have to rent a backdrop (50) or you can rent a tent (mine is 75). Long waiting list for Pavilion 1, rent in Pavilion 2 a little cheaper. Easier to get foot in during slower months.
Yes. Don't know the price or availability but they should still be available. I was there last month and there were several around. Some areas are marked if scotters are not allowed.
Did you get a chance to make it up there yet to see if she is there? I’m coming from McKinney and didn’t know if they stay with the puppies when it’s raining?
Yes I recommend the West entrance they also have a tractor ride from the parking lot to the entrance. The scooter rental is on the left hand side of the restrooms. You can rent the scooters per hour or for the entire day. Well worth the rental for the scooter. Some of the scooters have Shades attached to them and baskets and cup holders. Also if anything happens to the scooter while you were at trade days there's a phone number on the scooter that you can call and they will come out and assist you right away.
With First Monday being so big, you'll definitely need a scooter/golf cart to get around. And yes they provide some. Not sure on the price of them though.
Yes it is open this weekend. The venders are actually alould to start selling on Wednesday but most don't start untill Thursday and it goes on through the weekend
They have a lot of stuff, there is a lots of different stuff (new and old). If you never been. You need to go once just to check it out. Road trip. Just came back from canton. It was super crowd
Yes across the street is dog alley it's not on the Lewis side or the city side it's on the dog alley side the southeast corner of highway 64 and highway 19
Do not know but wish they would get rid of them or at least only let those who really need them rent them. They seem to think they have priority over everyone else.
Depends where your traveling from. But if you enter it in on your GPS it will lead you directly to it. And there are certain days that they have the dogs. Just do a little research and you can find your answers. Another way is to call the Best Western Plus in Canton and they have great info not just on trade days or the dogs but balloon rides and other festivals. Hope you enjoy your time there
$8 an hour and 50-55 dollars a day. There is more than one booth to rent from. You can look up vendors on the official trade days website to be certain the price hasn't changed before you go.🤗
They sell lots of puppies there....but be mindful of what kind you're looking for and depending on the breed and if you'd like papers, get ready to spend a pretty penny there. There is a whole pet section there, but take your time and ask lots of questions.
There are several campgrounds in the area. If you are a vendor renting a spot, I think they do have some RV spots but you would need to check with the First Monday Park to find out more and reserve the spot. If you are planning a trip to shop, I recommend the KOA on Hwy 19 north of Interstate 20. As always sites are limited and in high demand for First Monday Trade Days so book early. The Q n Brew BBQ is on the KOA property and a good BBQ Restaurant to eat at when you are there.
The 1st Monday trade days will be held on Oct 31st since the following Monday is the first Monday of the month. It is always the weekend immediately before the first Monday of every month.
My husband and I bought our puppy on a Saturday. There were plenty of people out selling all kinds of breeds. I would not suggest a Sunday because Saturdays are quite busy and often gets picked clean. Also, people pack up early on Sunday afternoons. I have never visited on a Thursday or Friday, but I believe some vendors only do weekends. If you don't know already, you have to go on the animal side which is in a different part than everything else.
As far as I know, there isn't a parking charge on Thursday. But there is for fri, sat, Sunday. I think the lots may charge different rates, but the most I have ever paid is $10. No entry fee
Puppys are only sold in the part of firstmonday called dog alley ...they should be there friday and saturday..
Its located on the far south east corner of the event off hwy 64 east of the hwy 19 intesection
Hi .why I need to do for rent space this weekend?

Market opens thursday ..still spaces availible at the Lewis section of first monday ...find phone on line. Space starts at $40 for the weekend 4 days indoors more expensive
The junk n great stuff venders are west of the red brick bathroom... abt 1/4 mile... just east of the Canton Community center and 1/4 mile south of the 4100 pavilion...
The statue was moved to the corner of Buffalo and Dallas street at the pocket park. The reasoning was it was on private properly and the statue belonged to the city.
While we were there this past weekend they announced over the speakers that they do not allow any animal sales. Maybe they have a new rule or that was an announcement for tgis past weekend. I did not see any dogs for sale or signs for that.
No, they don't do a list of vendors because it's not permanent, one month a vendor might be in a certain area, but the next month might want to be in one of the buildings, but if you're looking for a certain vendor, ask around and I'm sure someone that's there will be able to send you in the right direction.
Does anyone know the contact info on a french bulldog breeder that has an indoor shed with a/c, she was an older lady and had mostly blue frenchies with I believe a few ladradoodles and some other smaller breeds. TIA

Most businesses at Canton are investments that are started for just something to do and usually don't have the budget for employees. But there are opportunities if you look hard enough!
Is there any safer parking area for motorcycles

There is 1 location that is actually in the main park..city personnel is right there all day. .Cars it costs 10.00...bikes ???To get there Hwy 19 South towards town ...pass the whole park..then the cemetary. Turn right just past the cemetery on Grove Street. Aprox. 1 block you will see the First Mon main Gate..cant miss it. Turn in there and the gate men will get you parked right there.Hope that helps.
Not that I am aware of. There is Overnight RV parking but do not believe there is an area for an 18 wheeler trailer to park. Are you talking as a shopper or a vendor?
This is really not a kid friendly environment. The area is huge and in parts hilly. There is lots of walking involved, lots of walking!!! There are scooters for rent, but frankly there is not a lot that would interest children under, say 12, would be interested in and having children along would not allow adults to spend time on those shops which are of interest to them. Leave the small kids home.
There are many air conditioned buildings/pavilions. Once upon a time I would never recommend going in the summer. Wear walking shoes. 😉 September thru Christmas is a great time to go for holiday shopping.
Do they still have puppies sells durning first Monday weekend

Yes but not on the main grounds. At the corner of Hwy 19 & hwy 64 go south and it's the first left. You can ask where Dog Alley is and practically any local can point you there.
First Monday is open the weekend before the first Monday of the next month. It is never open in the middle of the month. You can get a First Monday calendar at most any convenient store in Canton.
I've seen a littlebof everything out there. I've seen people riding bikes, seen bikes for sale. The best way to see if someone has what your looking for is to go and look around.
Shopping carts 10.00 a day+ deposit......Scooters rent for 7 to 8.00 per hour.Usually around 50.for the day. Identification is required, age requirement..driving instructions are included.
Outdoor vendors open around 8 am. Pavillion vendors have mandatory hours . I am not positive 8 or 9 am. I usually get the a bit before 8 and most of the building vendors are open.
What time do you open?

Its just getting started, its not very busy on weds or thurs its busiest on Friday Saturday and Sunday most vendors are open 8-5
No, it is not open tomorrow. First on the month beginning on Thurs., Fri, Sat, sun til vendor's pack up for the day. Go early because there is a lot to see and a lot of walking to do!
Yes. Karen is right though. It isn't worth the hassle. Plus, having to cross traffic and haul it everywhere is exhausting, speaking from experience. It's better to travel light. Plus there are water fountains at the restrooms. Save your energy for shopping and hitting the stalls, not trying to save a few bucks on drinks. Ice chest is best left in your vehicle for once you trek back.
I'm a vendor at Canton people get to shopping as early as 7 AM out side. In the buildings it's a bit slower , but they say 9 am to around 5 PM Thursday though Sunday.
At one time I had to rent one due to leg injury got mine at the main entrance so it was easy to return there. I believe most companies have more than 1 rental/return places.
Not really a place that has trailers for sale. Now if you want to buy a food trailer, you dont need to buy one that is already there. Tons of places to buy food trailers. Then purchase a spot for food set up. Do some research,
Yeah. There WAS a little German township that centered around a really nice German Resturant and a little hotel that had cabins around restaurant and a small lake. Unfortunately a fire shut it down about 2007. It's all been closed since and never plans for reopening.
It would be difficult to say how many acres first monday is because it is owned by different people. And then there is large parking, camping etc. The bottom line is. First mondsy would be difficult to see all of in one day. when I went the last time I walked 3 miles and did not see a very big part of it.
First Monday you will find more of older type Farm sinks if you're looking for newer versions they will be rustic and you can probably find it right off of Highway 19 before the Hillcrest Cemetery there is a vendor that does some really cool sinks bathrooms kitchens
There are so many vendors throughout the town my suggestion would be to spend the day shopping around. If you could possible find a list of the various venues you could call their offices and see if they know of someone in their area. I personally have not seen any toy chests, but I am sure there are several folks who have them.
As you walk around on the grounds and find someone making rustic stuff ask them if they can make you a rustic screen? Even if they don't have one, if they manufacture their products they will usually be more than glad to make one for you. Before requesting them to make one for you ask things like...how long have you been doing THIS SHOW, (not shows but THIS SHOW) Be sure to make sure they will be in the same spot the following month, get a business card with a good phone number on it. (They will usually want at least a deposit as they don't know you from Adam either). Get the quote in WRITING too as they talk to thousands of people each
show. Call them early in the month on the month you are picking your item up to make sure they have made it or to answer questions they may have. If only going there to pickup the item (and not to shop Canton) ask them for a merchandise pickup pass so you won't have to pay to park to get in and allowing you to drive to their booth.Doreen
There is one outside of the food court on the east side by Arbor 1, then South end of the City Trade Center 3, One in Lewis Pavilion 4500 mid way down, and then one in the original pavilion 1 half way down I think. Anytime you need something, start asking vendors and sooner or later someone can direct you. Doreen
Sometimes back in the unreserved area where all the garage sale area is. That is in the Log Cabin area. Also, Dog Alley or the pet area off of 64 will have them. Those areas have mostly used things. Around Christmas you have a better chance of finding a new one but remember, vendor spaces are small and for a. Space to sell something large like that a vendor would have to rent many spaces to accommodate their size so prices may not be what you are willing to pay. However, being a vendor there for over 30 years, I have always said that if you can't find it in Canton then they don't make it. Lol Good Luck... Doreen
You can bring a wagon, but many of the scooter rental places also have wagons to rent. On nice weekends they are first come first serve so you may have to wait to rent one. Walmart, Lowes and HomeDepot have folding wagons you can buy.
Yes, Lewis area has a large area for campers with various hook-ups depending on your needs. You will be directly in the middle if several pavilions and shopping. Off hwy 19 take the Northgate entrance and someone will guide you. If before the show starts then you will go to the office for that area. Ask a fellow RV parker for directions. This allows you to go back and forth with ease to unload your shopping carts and then shop again. Lol Watch for traffic there as it gets congested during the show. You don't want to be on the 6 o'clock news. Just sayin'! Doreen
I've been there and is Big! I didn't know , so I helped me with Wikipedia, here is the information I found. First Monday Trade Days currently operates over 100 acres (0.4 km2) and provides places for 6,000 vendors. There are various buildings and areas, each designated by name, among them the Original Pavilions, Canton Marketplace, Old Mill Marketplace, The Village, The Mountain, The Arbors and The Dog Alley. There is also an area adjacent to the First Monday Trade Days facility (the one operated by the city) known as 'the Lewis side'. In 2009 Henry Lewis, owner of 'the Lewis side' purchased the Arbors.

Wow, Traders Village vs Canton First Monday? In one area alone (which is the main grounds of Canton off of hwy 19) there are 7500 vendors so to me Canton is the grand daddy of them all.. Bring comfy shoes is all I can say. If they make it, it is at Canton. You can not see all of the areas Canton has to offer in 3 days. Plan several visits and obtain a free visitors packet from the Canton Chamber of Commerce. Request it early in the month before the month you plan to
attend. Everyone should attend the show at least once in their life. In my opinion, he best months are March-May and then September-November. All the booths are rented then so lots to see. But of course, bargains are easier obtained during the slower months. Regardless, during any given month there is plenty to see. Enjoy, Doreen
Yes of coarse. Just no alcohol and also, I suggest a towel to wet and keep cool during the hot weather. Maybe take an extra ice filled water jug to keep dipping you towel in to stay cool. Enjoy the day...Doreen
