Great YMCA, good place to exercise & swim. Nice restrooms with showers, there's even a handicapped one with bars in shower. Which makes it nice to have something to hold onto when moving about. Wheelchair friendly, they have a pool chair for those unable to walk into pool, starts as inches & goes to about 3 feet. Lap lanes are deeper 4.6 - 5 ft. Lots of pool accessories to help you workout in water. Even have life jackets, if you need.

Daycare is closed part of the day. And during the summer it’s in a back storage room. The daycare room has summer camp in it, which you can’t even get on the list for! Paying for the amenities, but can only use amenities at certain times. So glad I pay to have my kids come here, just to walk right out!

Carman is the best swim instructor. MAVERICK is swimming without his floaties anymore and she gave him so much confidence he is swimming all over our pool even diving for rings & sticks Thank you team !

Yes, and they will even look up the Silver Sneakers number for you!
If your insurance provides SilverSneakers, just go to the YMCA and they will look up your name and birthdate on the SilverSneakers website and it will show the health code that it automatically bills your membership to. Super easy. You don't need to take insurance papers or card, just go to the membership desk and ask to check if you are SilverSneakers.
Ranges from $0 to about $100 or so for families. For one person 12month commitment it is about $40 I recall
Yes. You need to take your United Healthcare insurance card with you to sign up at the Y, they'll look up your Renew Active number for you if you don't already have it.
Currently they aren't doing reservations for classes anymore, it's just first come first serve so show up early to get a spot. The new software the Y started using 3 weeks ago doesn't have a class reservation system so that is why it's changed.
Hi Judy, Yes , we offer a number of classes for Seniors here at the Desert Foothills Family YMCA.
Hi Charlotte, Water aerobics will be starting on Monday, 8/31.
No it's an outdoor pool. It is open year round, heated to 82.5°, with three lap lanes which could be shared, most members do share lanes if needed. The downtown location has an indoor pool, that location is closed on Sundays.
The Y doesn't offer nutrition classes or diabetic specific classes, but I'm sure they could guide you somewhere, like the healthy living expo, etc. Pre-diabetics I'm certain would benefit from working out, doing cardio -- the Y offers A LOT of daily fitness classes, which are a fun way to benefit health. They also have personal trainers available that could help with your goals -- $40 for 30 minutes, $60 for 60 minutes. Plus, the Y is a community organization and you WILL make friends and meet others who share your same health challenges.
In general, the pool opens M-Th at 6am, closes at 8pm; Fri 6am - 7:30pm; Sat-Sun opens at 8am, closes at 4pm. The hours will change when it gets colder. The pool has swim team, swim lessons, and water fitness throughout the day so there are times when it doesn't have open swim. There are 3 lap lanes, (25yards) which can be shared if needed. There is a beach front entrance for kids. Maximum depth is 5 feet in lap lanes, 3 feet on the kiddie side. The pool is open year round, heated to 85.5°, closed only for lightning or extremely heavy rain. Bring your own towel. Showers and wet clothes spinner in the locker room. There is an in ground hot tub as well. 2 lifeguards on duty at all times.
The downtown location has the ability to rent a room, but none of the other locations in the valley do.
There are usually job openings somewhere; kids club, membership desk, lifeguards. There is a link on the website to submit your application.
I just saw this question. The Y has AMAZING kid camps each week during the summer, they also have out of school days, drop off is like at 6:30am pick up 6:30pm and around$75 for members. They also provide Parents Night Out 3 Fridays per month; one you can do for free, the other would be $10 for 1st kid, $5 for each additional kid, drop off at 6pm pick up at 10pm, pizza and fun provided. Ages potty trained - 11 yrs old. They have after school brain gains homework helpers, sports, swim, just LOTS for kids to do!
Yes they do
Silver Sneakers class times vary. You can download the Valley of the Sun YMCA app, the daily class schedules are posted. But there are a couple SS classes each day Monday through Friday mornings at the Light of the Desert church on Cave Creek Road. You can call the Y and they'll give you the days/times.
