Inadequate staffing for an essential service. Our trash and recycle barrels are frequently missed inside of a circle that is part of a larger road. I’ve talked to my neighbors, it’s a frequent occurrence all up and down the street. What’s weird is that the trash truck comes by some weeks, but it’s almost like the operator picks and chooses what locations he stops at. The commercial buildings down the street that use barrels? Always serviced, without issue. The residences all along the street? Well, let’s just say I’ve waited over a month to have my black barrel serviced. Why even pay for their services? I know RAD and WM have high prices, but at least they show up according to my friends who live in QC and San Tan. What’s worse, these guys keep calling me regarding what I can only assume to be a billing issue. I don’t know. Why? They won’t leave a message. My phone tells me they’re calling from the city of Mesa solid waste division, but I can’t answer. I’m at work. It’s pretty unprofessional for a government agency, and honestly it’s getting to a point that I’m about to show up to a city council meeting and discuss exactly what is going on in there, whether it be incompetence or just downright laziness. I’ve reviewed how much money gets allocated to solid waste division from the city. For them to have issues like this? Something stinks here, worse than the garbage not being collected…

I had my blue recycling can out and received a not on it that because the lid wasn't fully closed they refused to pick it up. I called and was told that if the lid isn't fully closed it can break the lid when picking up the can. That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard this year. I see those guys drop the cans shake them and I find my can on its side without breaking. I will include a picture to show the can as I put it out. Asked for a call from a supervisor still waiting and probably will be waiting for a long time. What terrible customer service. I'm glad I pay mesa taxes so you can have a job. What a joke.

Whoever the garbage collector was today (Saturday) didn’t bother to stop his vehicle to pick up our blue garbage can. He was in motion as he grabbed and crushed the brand new blue garbage can and whipped it up into the truck and dropped it while he was still moving. I just had four new garbage cans replaced because the others have been crushed, the wheels have been ruined, and the lids on some have been broken off. My suggestion: Try stopping before you pick up the garbage can and don’t start moving again until it’s back on the ground. Also, put some kind of regulator on the claw to keep it from crashing the garbage cans.
