This credit union is fraudulent, steals your money, and needs federally investigated immediately. I activated my debit card, but have never been able to use it. The customer support used expletives and hung up the phone. I called back, and they refused to close the account. Fortunately, I was wise and never kept large amounts of money in this financial institution. Customer service is nonexistent. You are just a number. They hate customers and refuse to help. But SECU loves stealing money and refusing you access to it. Avoid this company. I am contacting the States Attorney. If that does not work, the FBI. A bunch of condescending crooks.

BEWARE of this "credit union" I recently had an authorized withdrawal from my account which resulted in my savings being wiped out. I called the "customer service" line and after waiting for 45 minutes for someone to answer, I was told that I had to go to a branch. The first branch I went to told me to make an appointment, noone could help me, and, the next appointment is in two days! The second branch was a little more accommodating, they took my statement and told me that they saw fraud alerts on my account. They said that they still needed to do an investigation, which is understandable, but advised that I will not see my money for 130 days. After hearing this, I promptly told them to close my checking account - they "made a phone call" and said that my money would be in my account in 2 days..........that still hasnt happened. Unfortunately, I am going to have to contact the States Attorney's office to retrieve my money. This is an unjustified hassle and completely frustrating.....

I went to the Glen Burnie branch today to have a loan document printed so I can keep a copy. A simple request that would have taken less than ten minutes. I was told that I have to make an appointment. Looking around the empty branch, there are plenty of staff that could have helped me. Why make a member jump through hoops because you don't feel like working? Unacceptable!!

Hi there, SECU is for all sorts of Marylanders, not just state employees. You may be eligible through work, the college you attended, an organization you're affiliated with, or other ways. If you'd like to find out more about all of the ways you can be eligible, check out this page: https://www.secumd.org/about-us/membership/eligibilty.aspx Thank you!
Hi Edith, the minimum amount needed to open an account is $10.
Hi John, you make a payment over the phone, you can reach out to our member care team at the number here: https://www.secumd.org/Contact-Us.aspx
Hi there, the Glen Burnie branch has a coin counter in the lobby, so there's no need to roll your coins! However, if they're already rolled, we will accept them.
Hi Natalie, you cannot cash a check at any ATM. If it's a SECU account, a teller can assist you in cashing the check.
Hi Justin, most of the time, branch staff are assisting members, so for your convenience, we've set up a contact center whose sole purpose is to assist members over the phone. If you're working with someone specifically at a branch and you have their business card, their direct line should be on it. Otherwise, all contact numbers are here: https://www.secumd.org/Contact-Us.aspx
Hi Tina, yes we have an ATM at this location.
