I bought a half horse motor yesterday. I got it to replace an old motor that would stop running due to thermal protection. The new motor does the same thing. Do l need a three quarter or one horse motor to solve this problem?

I would say yes apparently your over heating the smaller motor. Cause the thermal protection is there to stop you from burning up your motor. It also is there to keep you from catching 🔥 so replace it as soon as you can.
