On Jun 2nd I went in, waited 3 hours, finally got to pay for my license. 3 months later and I still have not received my license. Called multiple times in the past months and haven't heard anything back. Horrible service. Update: Finally got a hold of someone and they said it was only just shipped out, 3 months after I paid for it?? Was told in a week I should have it.. don't see why it would take 3 months to ship.

It's amazing that they opened at 8 am on Friday and I had a 815 appointment. At 820 they come out and say system is down and they don't know when it will be back up. This is frustrating since they are consolidating and making you drive all the way to Covington then the system goes down 20 minutes after opening. Why?

This place is literally a joke. Their system setup is a joke and so are their non wanting to work employees. I lost my license unfortunately about 2 months ago came here late one afternoon had no issue walking in and getting my license remade. Today, I come here to get yet another copy it's 1:42 the place is packed with a sign that says walking full make appt online with the soonest being October. I have to wait until the morning to do a walk in now the lady said. What gad changed in 2 months, not even a full 2 months. I need it now not in the morning. A woman needing a passport was turned away as well. If you don't want to work get a different job!!!!

For Kenton County residents it's in the same building as this. First floor is inspections, title and plates. Second floor is DMV for drivers license

Yes, you can go to any office in the state to renew. If your license has been expired for more than 5 years, you will need to retest at the Independence or Burlington office.

The Simon Kenton office is temporarily closed due to COVID. If you did not have a change of address or have a CDL you should get a replacement by mail. You may drop off the form at Simon Kenton location at the lobby front desk or in the Sheriffs drop box. You may find the form on our website- www.drivekenton.org
For US Citizens and permanent residents in Kenton County you would go to the Drivers license office behind Kroger in Independence 1655 Delaware Crossing, foreign nationals must first go to the Ky Transportation Cabinet office on Dream St in Florence Ky.
Tags are done through the County Clerks office, not our office. I believe in some circumstances you can renew on-line. You can call them at 392-1600.

The Governor has ordered all Drivers License offices throughout the state closed. All driver testing is postponed. The Governor has signed an order extending the expiration of all licenses by 90 days.
The Covington office is open at 7:30 am.
The Independence office of drivers license is open the 1st Saturday of every month from 9 am to 12 noon.
Martin Luther King Day is a State holiday. All offices of the Kenton Circuit Clerk, including drivers license will be closed that date.
License plates are handled through the County Clerks office. You can reach them at 859-392-1600.
Unfortunately the new Travel compliant licenses have only rolled out to two KY counties and Kenton is NOT one of them. Additionally no other counties are scheduled to receive them, so we have no idea when they will be available in Kenton. Your current license is good for travel through September 2020.
The State Police give the written test and their only location is in Independence on Delaware Crossing behind Kroger’s.

The State Police do the testing at the Independence location on Delaware Crossing. They are open 8-4 pm Monday through Friday and are closed for lunch and the last test is at 3:30.
