Excellent food, homey atmosphere. My husband had the fish and chips, I had the lobster roll. The owner sat us at our table and was so kind! This was our first time in Newtown and was a great way to get introduced to the town.

Ordered the chicken and waffles. Definitely not what you would picture for your typical chicken and waffles. Tasted like it was something store bought and reheated. Nothing farm to table about it. Even the “bourbon maple syrup” was just regular syrup. Our waitress was nice, but the rest of the staff was borderline rude. Would not recommend. Hi! Im glad you responded, but I don’t feel like it helps you look less rude. I am giving an honest review in how my meal tasted. We rounded our credit card bill up to an even number, but left cash on the table for our waitress. Please make sure she gets the $5 left. That being said, I recognize that even $6 isn’t a high tip. Our waitress was nice, but there was zero service. Not even a refill of our waters… I understand that this isn’t a high end establishment, but I do still expect some sort of service out of the hospitality industry.

Sometimes you go out to dinner just because you want to avoid the cooking and the cleaning. Most times you regret it. The food is mediocre, the service is "eh" and the bill is not in line with what you ate and drank. You'll never have that feeling at Farmhouse. It's the best food I've ever had. I'd argue that it's better than Max Downtown, my old "favorite restaurant." The service is stellar. The local beer choices are awesome. Food and drink prices are reasonable and in line with what you get - which is the best meal in Connecticut. You'll have trouble making a decision looking at the menu. Everything not only sounds good, it is good. You can close your eyes, point to an item on the menu and you'll never be disappointed. Try that at other restaurants. The farm-to-table aspect certainly makes me feel a lot less guilty about going so often. Each meal supports local businesses and local farmers. Every other restaurant just pales in comparison.

First time and we'll definately be back. Food was outstanding and service was very attentive. Highly recommend!

Yes, plenty of picnic tables on the large lawn out front. The patio they have is also open with 4 tables enough apart and outside w no roof. The patio has regular chairs with backs.
