The corporate office should look into the management/employees at the Ithaca store! They are unprofessional and rude! My wife and I went into the store last Friday evening for soft serve ice cream. We were the only ones at the counter and waited 10 minutes before a young man (employee) came up and said he'd be right with us. While we waited, we observed several employees who appeared to be standing around. After another 10 minute wait, we saw the gentlemen who was supposed to be "right back" standing next to another employee watching a video on a cell phone. I went up and asked if he was going to help us, and he appeared to be annoyed that he was being interrupted. When he got back to the counter to take our orders, while putting on his gloves, he said "what do you want" in a tone that was EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! At that point, we were disgusted and said "nothing, we're leaving." With a smirk on his face, he said "have a nice night" at which time we left the store. I wish I had gotten the employee's name before we left, but being disgusted, I did not think of it at the time. After returning home, my wife tried calling the store 8 times and the phone was constantly busy; I'm assuming that it was off the hook, as there were several employees who could have answered the phone - the store was not that busy. We will NEVER visit this store again, and have not only posted our complaint on social media, but we've told everyone we see about the service we did not get.

We usually love going to Byrne Dairy, but stay away from the Phelps store, especially if you have kids with you. I stopped at this location with my husband and kids. As we walked in there were 3 employees sitting at a picnic table smoking. An older woman, a small woman in probably her mid 30's and a man probably in his early 30's. The foul language they were using was horrible and the conversation disturbing. When we first got into the store we walked by were sandwiches and food was being made, there was a line and there was a tall female employee preparing food, but slamming everything and had a horrible attitude. As we walked toward the rest of store we noticed one employee at register and a line reaching to back of store. We grabbed what we needed and got into the line, about that time the three employees who were outside came in. The smaller employee went up to the tall girl and said what's wrong. The tall girl proceeded to tell her, but with very foul language. The small girl said does someone need to get (and used a swear word starting with F) tonight, clear as day. The whole line heard it and immediately looked over. The other two employees started laughing and they all (in a moaning type sound) started saying ohh yeah and laughing. The very dirty talk and joking continued. When we made it finally to register my husband asked the employee if this kind of behavior always goes on, especially in front of kids and asked to speak to a manager. To our complete surprise the employee pointed to the small girl, who was basically the ring leader, and said that's the General Manager. As we walked out my husband stopped quick and said to her if your the General Manager you ought to be ashamed. She said nothing and as we walked out we could hear them all start laughing. As a company you should be ashamed of yourselves to have such a foul mouthed, dirty person running one of your stores. Needless to say, even though we loved Byrne Dairy, we will not be back!!!!!!
