We had a great one-hour tour of Rose Hill Mansion. Our guide, Nancy, was very knowledgeable and interesting. The home is well preserved and has many pieces on display that belonged to one of the families that lived in the mansion. The bonus was seeing the original kitchen and upstairs bedrooms. There are restrooms and other displays about the farm and families in one of the other buildings on the property.

I had my wedding here in September and it was an absolute dream come true! Mel Oles was incredibly organized, communicative, and kind during the entire process. She was so flexible leading up to and on the day of the wedding, and was a huge reason why everything came together so well. It was the most beautiful and fun wedding I could ask for, and I would recommend Rose Hill as a great wedding venue!

Rose Hill is one house with a few outbuildings. It is owned by the Geneva Historical Society, which also operates the Geneva History Museum in the city of Geneva, NY and the Johnston House about a mile from Rose Hill.
There have been several owners of the property. The oldest existing structure is the Carriage House Visitor Center, which was built as a house for Robert Rose in about 1809 and later turned into a carriage house. William K. Strong was the next owner of the property, who constructed the Greek Revivial mansion in 1839. Strong was a wool broker from New York City. He sold portions of the property to his brothers in law and moved back to the city shortly after his wife died. He was interested in politics and this may have been one of the reasons for building a grand country house, which is not as unusual as you might think. There are many large and grand houses in the Finger Lakes. Depending on what you count as a room, it has about 20 rooms open for tours.
