Anytime you have to deal with Government Employees always bring plenty of CHILL-PILLS AND EXCEDRIN AND STRESS PILLS π, plan your trip there, remember these people are PROGRAMMED, take time to learn to speak their language and bring along every thing you need and know what youβre going to talk about before going there, they work for the Government not you.

Are agencies still doing background checks anymore because I have never seen so much crooks working for these government agencies ever in my life, until now. How do these people sleep at night, when they know they be trying to steal other people's Social Security Benefits, by way of changing a person's records , so they would not qualify, etc. etc. Not to mention the employees who work here in Joliet, IL, there customer service skills are nasty.

Yes you can walk in. I did. You can also call and make an appointment.
You can call and make an appointment to come into the office. At the moment our appointments are a few weeks behind.
Yes i did it last week. Just marriage license
Report to SS office. You might have to re-apply. Let see what SS say.
Yes
It gets mailed to you but you get a sheet with ss number for now
If you want your new address to appear on your IL driver's license or identification card, you must additionally apply for a corrected card in person. You cannot replace your license or ID online or by mail. Visit an Illinois SOS office and bring: Your current IL driver's license or ID. Proof of your IL residence (1 document), such as a: Bank statement. Mortgage or rent agreement. Utility bill. You can also do this at the DMV https://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/dsd_x173.pdf (acceptable and unacceptable documents)
Just go in. No one answers there phone.
Great experience. Line was little long but staff was very helpful.
You can... But it is much better to do it in person...
Call have them deleonline account start over. Ask for documentation to be mailed. Joliet office is open to public.
If you want to legally change your name, you mustΒ fill out and file name change forms with the court. Then a judge will sign a document called an order approving your name change. Also Google has a lot of information about this as well. That's where I got this information.
You still need to file that's where I made my mistake and they don't let you know your checks just stop or they pro rate them Im only getting $10 SMH
They are not taking walk-ins where you can see someone. To get an application you can just go there, knock on the door and ask the security guard for one or print it from the website. To just make one trip get a copy of your son's official sealed transcripts from his school and then get the application, fill it out in your car, have your son sign it, and bring everything to the security guard. You can get the transcripts by calling your son's school and telling them what you need (the sealed transcripts to get your son's social security card), they should be able to have that ready for you the same day. Another way is getting medical records but transcripts are the quickest way in my opinion. You should receive the card in about three weeks. Hope this helps. ~"Z"
There is a security guard that comes out. He might be able to help but I made mine through the phone.
Really don't know.
How can I get a yearly award letter?

Open by appointment only
There is an online form you need to fill out. You mail it to them with your marriage certificate. No one answers the phone there, I had to call Kankakee to get any information

You need to report to Social security. They will help you. Good luck.
I don't think they take appointments, just walk in, but go early
Yes they do. Just walk in and you will find a gray or black box on the table. You can't miss it. If not sure, ask security. He will help you direct to it. Good luck.
https://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/ We can accept only certain documents as proof of identity. An acceptable document must be current (not expired) and show your name, identifying information (date of birth or age) and preferably a recent photograph. For example, as proof of identity Social Security must see your: U.S. driver's license; State-issued non-driver identification card; or U.S. passport. If you do not have one of these specific documents or you cannot get a replacement for one of them within 10 days, we will ask to see other documents. Any documents submitted, including the following, must be current (not expired) and show your name, identifying information (date of birth or age) and preferably a recent photograph: Employee identification card; School identification card; Health insurance card (not a Medicare card); or U.S. military identification card. Note We may use one document for two purposes. However, you must provide at least two separate documents.

Go in and yes appointment is beneficial
Yes, walk in but the take number. It will take a while until they call your number. I know "don't call 800". I hate when they put you on hold. What a waste of time. Better to walk in for once. Good luck!
