My wife and I come up from Broomfield frequently to enjoy the new museum exhibits and have lunch at one of several local breweries. The core exhibit that outlines the history of the "Colony" and the founding of Greeley is excellent. And of course you have to see Rattlesnake Kate's snakeskin dress made after she killed 140 rattlesnakes! The new exhibit that highlights items in the museum collection that have been "repurposed" from their original use is very creative and definitely worth a visit! Don't miss it!

Is there history in Greeley regarding the Oregon Trail era.

Unfortunately we don’t have a lot on that era as it was before Greeley was founded in 1870. We have a little bit of information on the county but not much. If you visit the Hazel E. Johnson Research Center, 714 8th St., we do have a few newspaper clippings and a book titled “Personal Experiences on the Oregon Trail Sixty Years Ago” by Ezra Meeker.
