I visited this restaurant to fulfill my Filipino food cravings and didn’t want to travel to Queens to do so but it wasn’t until I arrived that I realized the food is basically “Filipino fusion”. Having visited almost every Filipino restaurant in the five boroughs, I expected the traditional flavors of the lumpia, kare-kare and chicken adobo; which were just a bit too bland for my liking. However, we all enjoyed the vibes and our waiter was very nice and didn’t skip a beat especially being that he was the only waiter and it was fairly busy. There is also a very nice drink selection. I might just have to give this place another try… and instead order the non-traditional/fusion items on the menu.

For apps we got: - cua pao (SO GOOD. Really flavorful and the steamed bun texture was perfect) - lumpia Shanghai (it was okay, the lumpia themselves were a bit lacking in seasoning, but the sweet and sour dipping sauce saved it) For mains: - chicken adobo (delicious! They got the vinegar flavor right and it came with a good amount of chicken) - Tocino (really good flavor and comes with garlic rice, which did lack a bit in garlic flavor. Also came with 2 sunny side up eggs that didn’t come seasoned so that felt a bit lacking too) Overall the place is really cute and they have an outside patio and a good vibe. Service was just okay, a bit inattentive but I think they were understaffed.

Absolutely perfect! The equinox salad which was a special had lotus root and a donut peach and was phenomenal. The curried goat and chicken thighs were incredible! Great quick service and delicious food!

Purple Yam is one of my favorite restaurants in New York. Amazing food every single time. Great flavor combinations. Their simpler dishes, like lechon, is cooked to absolute perfection. I order lechon fromlots of different places, I always love it, but I am always hoping that it’s as good as how they do it at purple yam. Tonight we finished our meal with some deserts and they were amazing. Refreshing sweet halo halo and the ube tikoy, which was a completely unexpected combination of flavors. We started with the ukoy which was so crispy and flavorful. Friendly atmosphere too. Nice staff and a comfy place to eat. Good sized portions and a good price. It’s hard to beat! If you haven’t tried this place yet, you should really go for it!

Only take out. No indoor dining.
They have a great whole grilled fish. But it might be seasonal. I would call them. @jennifer azor
