I live 2 miles away and won't be visiting again due to the new parking system. Two tickets on the same street on a Tuesday ($45). It's RO, not NYC. I'll stick with Ferndale.

Royal Oak parking meters are a SCAM -- use at your own risk. After parking to pick up a carry-out order, I attempted to pay at the meter which requires a "search" for your numerically labeled parking space (i.e. "3412"). The meter proceeded to tell me "could not find space" (it's installed directly in front of the space I'd like to pay for). Repeated this process three times to no avail. Tried inserting quarters that would literally get jammed. Tried to download the Sentry app and pay that way -- took eons to set up and STILL no luck. Guys, I was parked for 6 minutes, 54 seconds and issued a parking citation for $20! Tried calling the provided court phone number to contest the ticket... they won't pick up phone! They are skirting calls on a faulty / bug-riddled system and reaping rewards in unfair citations. Absolutely criminal. Avoid coming to this city if you value your money & dignity.

Absolutely rude and disrespectful staff! Every time I contact for a question or have a concern I am left with an attitude and disrespect from the ladies at the front who answer! Not appreciated find another job if you’re that miserable! She also hung up on me with her old a$$!! Ridiculous! This city is useless.

I have never been so irritated by parking my entire life. 2 of my favorites places to eat are downtown, and I refuse to deal with it anymore. The choices that were made to implement this parking have to go down as 1 of the worst decisions I have seen a city ever made. Everyone who took part in this should be deeply ashamed of the damage they have done to this once great city. No amount of public apology could ever make up for this lack of forethought, and resignations should be submitted.
