Our family used Rochester Law to open probate from Arizona for a relative who passed recently in Michigan. Christopher and Alia were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. They made it super easy to complete from half-way across the country. We couldn’t be happier with the service they provided.

Very good they set me up with a phone appointment for my will with an attorney because I'm legally blind and cannot drive August

Chris is a skilled attorney who is knowledgeable and patient, taking the time to explain everything in detail to his clients. He has been quite valuable in putting together the foundation for our real estate portfolio and has answered numerous questions. Rochester Law Center is truly a splendid place for legal council as the rest of the team has been helpful and responsive with all communications.

My wife and I were really happy we chose Chris as our estate planning attorney. We have property in multiple states and we weren’t too sure how to plan for it, whether we needed a last will and testament, living trust, or more. Chris came highly recommended by friends who used him as their trust attorney in the past. He walked us through everything and made what I thought was going to be a confusing process incredibly easy. He was very helpful and accessible throughout the process and was always willing to answer additional questions for us as they came up. If you are looking for an estate planning lawyer, I would highly recommend Chris Atallah and the Rochester Law Center. Thanks again Chris!

Would putting my father-in-laws money in a trust protect it from taxes or penalties from IRS or Social Security?

Nora Smith | Oct 26, 2018
Chris Atallah | Oct 26, 2018

Hi Nora, certain types of irrevocable trusts can be used (in appropriate cases) to qualify a person who might otherwise be disqualified from receiving some means-tested benefits such as SSI, however, there are often payback requirements. The usefulness of a trust will be dependent on your individual situation. Please let us know if you'd like to set up a free in-office consultation to discuss further.

My father-in-law sold his house and is now living with us. Will he be penalized by Social Security for having money in a savings or investments? This money is to pay for his care, since he isn't able to live alone.

Nora Smith | Oct 26, 2018
Chris Atallah | Oct 26, 2018

Hi Nora, thanks for reaching out. The answer to that question depends on what type of Social Security benefits your father-in-law receives, and the total value of the assets in his name. Let us know if you'd like to set up a free in-office consultation to discuss further.
