The best thing to do in this situation is fill out a police report. Describe the laptop with the most information possible and hopefully you have a password on the laptop. Although not having the serial number is key to finding it and retrieving it in the future. All pawn shops are required to write down the most information possible about every item that is involved in a transaction. Including make, model and serial. Since all pawn shops programs are linked with the police database it is then possible to retrieve a stolen item. The first step is to fill out a police report. Hope this helps! Sorry for your loss...
