I was an Ackerman customer and was satisfied, however, it seems like when ADT took over not so much. I called about 2 weeks ago to cancel my contract. I have moved out of state and took over the alarm system that was here so i did not want to transfer.( I am aware of the penalty) I was on the phone for over an hour and must have been handed off to about 6 different people, most of them with horrible phone connections! I was supposed to receive an email conformation that the contract was cancelled, I never did. i need to know if my contract was cancelled

I have had my “Ackerman”/ADT system for just under a week. It was installed last Tuesday. Within days I was already having issues. My back door continues reading as “open” even though it’s closed, locked, and latched. I reached out about it and received a phone call from someone at Ackerman who left a call back number that I couldn’t hear. The glass break sensor went off within days of being installed. The dining room window sensor is reading as “off line.” The alarm went off at 5AM on Monday (today) due to the window sensor and Ackerman never called me nor did the police show up. I have reached out to my rep who stated that the office was supposed to call me, again, to which I have not received a phone call. Now, I can’t even arm what sensors are working due to the malfunction with the window and back door. I had to sign a 36 month contract and haven’t even had one week of working service. Not to mention that when you look at the Ackerman website they advertise a $20/month monitoring package that isn’t actually available. The company is owned by ADT. Seems like false advertisement to me. I should have gone with another company, but I was desperate to have a security system as quickly as possible. I should have waited, maybe I’d have a working security system right now. I’d give zero stars if I could. This company has been nothing short of disappointing and it’s been less than a week. RUN! Don’t waste your time, money, or jeopardize your safety.

We've been with Ackerman for several years. They have always been great, until they sold out and transferred their monitoring to ADT. I've spent 6 hours trying to get an issue resolved with them today and still haven't gotten anywhere. I've talked to at least 4 different people and been "disconnected" (hung up on) three different times. Each time I try to call back it's another hour on hold. Ackerman was never like this, they were always responsive and helpful, unfortunately you have to deal with ADT now, and their customer service is trash.

Horrible wait times. I need to update my credit card info for auto payment. The website takes me to a third party site where I have to create a new User ID and password. When I call the wait times are very long. Just pathetic. I still haven't paid them. Just absurd how hard it is to update a credit card.

They have done that to us also in Oct 2019. We think it should be a breach of contract on their end. Update: Now we are told Ackerman switched over billing practices in October and that notices were mailed out to customers. Oops! Never got our notice.

It is a communication failure. If your alarm system is monitored, call your alarm provider to advise you have a communication failure and would like to perform a test on your system.

The $32 alarm monitor went away when i upgraded to 3 cameras. It went to $52 a month for $99 installation fee and 5 year contract which you already have with alarm monitoring

We got ours a year ago when they were having a special. We switched from ADT. It all depends on how many doors you have and if you want glass break detectors. Ours was around 200.00 and the monthly fee is less. I would just have them come out and consult. There was no charge for that and they were great.
