A lot better than Giant or Acme, but pricing approaches or exceeds Whole Foods on some items. [updated October 2022] We still shop here for some staples and dry goods, but have switched more to Whole Foods now. While some produce is good here at Wegmans you have to watch carefully what you buy. We've had more instances of produce going to mold, or having hidden mold from here than I can count over the last 4 years. While their fish and seafood selections are good, Whole Foods seems fresher. The pricing for their organic chicken (which may or may not be ammonia or air chilled - package doesn't say) has skyrocketed. The last straw though was when they destroyed their craft beer selection. We like to get a 4-pack for the weekend and previously we'd be able to regularly get Sip of Sunshine dated within the last 1-3 weeks. Now the Sip of Sunshine is usually 2-3 months old (really needs to be 30 days or less before it starts to go bad), so either they are overordering and not moving stock, or people changed retailers when their selection shrank from around 6 fridge units to 2.
