What a wonderful experience! The battleship is a real life museum , a lot of interesting facts and events that took place during WW2 make you feel so Patriot and proud! A lot of the crow working there are vats which make your experience even more realistic. You can walk through the all ship, well organized, definitely can spend 4 5 hours there. Suggestion:adding the voices of the soldiers inside the ship during the tour well make it even better. Fact: if you donate 50$ they'll let you shot one of the cannons. Parking: 10$ , ticket 25$ adult

I have seen all capital ships except for the USS Missouri and I have to say that USS New Jersey is the ship I like the most. Sure, it doesn't have all the money San Diego can lavish on the Midway, it doesn't have the fancy recordings of the USS Lexington's dentist's office and it doesn't have a cross section of a gun turret like the USS Alabama but I had the best visit ever here. Few people, I showed up early in the morning and I was the only one basically. The explanatory panels are very well made and you get to visit the entire ship. The ship is so close to Philadelphia and yet so far as it is on the other side of the Delaware River in NJ but if you dare cross the bridge and step into Camden, the ship is absolutely wonderful.

Thanks for your service enjoy
Free admission! Thank you for your service!
The new jersey first served in 1944 for world war 2, and last served in the 80's by Lebanon and Beirut. It is the most decorated battleship in US history and was one of the last active battleships in the world. If you want to know more, I encourage you to visit, I had a great time.
If you served aboard the USS New Jersey, you get a complimentary tour, which includes the berthing areas and mess deck. We will also bring you to the crew members' signing wall and, if safe, will take you you berthing area. We are currently restoring the engine rooms and hope to have it open for guests in the upcoming month. You can learn about the progress of the Engineering tour at our website at www.battleshipnewjersey.org.
I also lived on the barges while in Long Beach until commissioning. You get to go back and visit for free, I have done it 3 times.
There is a mess hall, where they serve a pre-selected meal and a snack bar where they sell pretzels and hot dogs, chips, drinks, etc. They had coffee, hot water for tea and hot chocolate, and water available for free.
Hi buddy calvin fletcher
It's open almost all year round from 9:30am to 3pm. That includes Christmas and New Year's day.
The self guided tour is 21.95, but if you go on Wednesday (i think) you save $2.00, but you cannot buy these tickets in advance. Check website for further details. Well worth the money
Those are called Tampions.
It costs $25 per person
The Battleship New Jersey is open for tours on Good Friday and Easter Sunday at 9:30am with the last tour of the day departing at 3pm. Families can enjoy face painting, temporary tattoos, and balloons creations as part of a tour on Friday, April 19 from 10am to 2pm.
The big 16 inch guns (the main ones) can fire up to 23 miles
They are the same class of ship, so they were made almost exactly the same. So was the USS Missouri.
From the tour docent - originally bunker C. Then after the recommission Naval fuel oil
Avenel is up North, about an hour from Camden
You can use a elevator to get the external/main deck, but you can't go to inside
Yes. You can take photos and videos of the Battleship during your tour. Just please stand stationary when taking photos and videos. Thanks!
Um sorry I'm not sure but I was use the a app pass ticket in the go city pass. that's a good. Likes a city pass
No. It is 18 dollars per adult which includes admission to both ships.
You will need to pay for a ticket. We have several tours -- guided and audio tours -- as well as group rates for schools, adults, veterans and seniors. Check out the website -- www.battleshipnewjersey.org -- for a list of tours and prices.
Yes there is a stop nearby
It takes about 1.5 hours.
Backpacks are not allowed on the Battleship. They are a safety risk when you go up and down ladders during a tour. We request that you leave backpacks and bags in your car, but if you bring them here. you can check them in lockers in the Visitors Center. Thanks!
18 or 20 Dollars I think so
It was completed around the end of ww2, 1944 i think, and served till the 80's, with its last tour occurring during the UN intervention in lebanon
The Iowa class battleships were the largest battleships ever built in the US. Besides the New Jersey, there were also the Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin battleships. Together they were the largest battleships in the US Fleet.
it depends on the kind of tour you want to take or if you want to stay overnight. Check the website www.battleshipnewjersey.org
Veteran's Day is Sunday. the ship's website says they have a program on Sunday and the entry fee is by donation for veterans, any they wish to pay.
They will accept most any donation appropriate to her service dates.
I would call can talk to someone
No. However, we've had crewmembers from the Pueblo aboard for a tour before.
You can get a wheel chair up to the main deck but that would be about it.
That could be difficult. If you carried the baby maybe.
To refute Mr. Schaub's answer (IMHO), the USS New Jersey was one of four IOWA-class battleships built during WW2 (USS Missouri, USS Iowa, USS New Jersey, USS Wisconsin). Technically, yes they are now obsolete, but a great deal of controversy still exists. Costs to modernize & upgrade the Missouri & Wisconsin, last deployed in the 1991 Gulf War, raised questions about cost & relevance of the battleship in modern naval warfare. The need for 16" guns & numerous other heavy armaments versus missiles & drones, and vulnerability of the Iowa-class is clear. IMHO, the need for the battleship is still legitimate because it is potentially a massive platform for deployment of ultra-modern heavy weaponry (i.e. rail gun). Nonetheless, nothing today exists that is stronger, tougher, and capable of delivering sheer firepower than these. It may take 18-24 months to modernize, but if you needed one & didn't have it, it would take 5 years to build from scratch.
Bring a backpack with extra clothing! There is a lot more rooms then you would think in the inside. Steps are very narrow and if you are tall you will hit your head at some point so bring something for a headache! Enjoy!!
Adult is 21.95 Child 5-11 is 17.00 Veteran and or senior 62+ 17.00 4 or under free Hope this helps
